Thanks all for the warm wishes. I can't remember if I already said so & am now worn out from cutting drawer & cabinet liners for the kitchen for the last 2 hours.

I'd like to get more stuff unpacked if I could.

Almost lit enough to let the chickens out. And to who was asking, mike love 'nanners too. We scored when we were at Starbucks last as they were going to have to toss the older/ripened ones- DH & I overheard & offered to take them to the hens. Ripened 'nanners can get a little messy & they definitely like to clean their beak often while eating but it is yummy!

Happy Mother's Day (& Mr. Mom's Day) to All. May you relax today & enjoy being pampered.

Chicken Church?

I think mine is more of a shine. I go up to the coop with a cup of coffee every morning to let them out. I have a chair I sit in and I sip my coffee and watch the birds pile out side to play. My flock is only 9-ish weeks old, so still quite young. I sit and ponder, plan my day, and then walk back to the house.

Evenings are similar, only the beverage has changed .. heh.

I am often awestruck by simple things as I sit there with drifting thoughts. My mind floats towards an overwhelming sense of peacefulness as I pretend to be free of all of life's burdens.

Thanks, but I don't let it bother me anymore; haven't for years. It's just the way he operates. I don't think he ignores special occasions to be mean, I don't even think he necessarily forgets. He just thinks gifts and celebrations are for kids. If I give him a wrapped gift, I will find it in his closet, still wrapped months later. If it is not a national holiday, he isn't even going to think of it (though he does not do Christmas gifts either - I just get them or make them and wrap them for the kids.) We got married on July 4 so he could remember the day. Olivia, my preemie, was coincidentally born four years later on July 4. DH always buys fireworks, a cake and gets DD a big mylar balloon. And he's a big softie when it comes to DD and her balloon. When DD turned 3, she got a "Nemo" balloon. We hiked up Rattlesnake Ledge and she took it with her, careful that it did not get stuck on any trees. We tied it to the bike she was learning to ride with training wheels, she took it inside when she ate, she took it to the park and went down the slide with it, then when she was on the swing, the string broks and Nemo floated away. She was soooo upset, sobbing big huge tears and gulping her breath. I called DH who was in town then picking up groceries at the QFC and they happened to have another Nemo. He brought it to her and she was so happy that he found her Nemo!

that is a sweet story about your DD. That is something worth remembering.

Thanks! I like this one too:
Before her 4th birthday we were trying to figure out what to do for a party. She wanted a unicorn party with unicorn rides. I asked if she thought the neighbor would let us attach a horn to her pony

Olivia: "No, silly mommy! I want real unicorns at my party."
Me: "Where am I going to find real unicorns?"
O: "They live on the mountain behind our house. If you go up there at night when the moon is full and sing to them, the will follow you back down to the house, and then we can just keep them behind the fence until my party."
Me: "There won't be another full moon before your party."
O (after a few moments thought): Alex lost a tooth today. Toothfaries are magical and they can talk to the unicorns any time. I'm sure if you put a note with the tooth under the pillow and a $20 bill, she will bring the unicorns down from the mountain for you."

Well, the deal with the toothfairy never worked out, though Alex was quite thrilled with the $20 since the usual tooth pay-out is $1. I did n=find a toy store that was closing and they had 5 unicorn stick ponies, so I bought those and some ribbons, rhinestones and little silk flowers and the girls had a great time decorating their unicorn stick ponies!

For all of you Mothers on this day............

Angels
Randy Travis

Me and some of the boys were sitting around the other night
Started talking about politics, religion, love and life
And what a shame it was about 9/11
And what about hell and what about heaven
And is there or isn't there angels on earth
And then one guy said
Well you can take that for what it's worth
If it's something I can see or something I can touch
Well I might believe in all that stuff
So I just had to say to him

Are you telling me that you've never seen an angel?
Never felt the presence of one standing by?
No robe of white
No halo in site
Well you missed the most obvious thing
Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes

And then I said who went through the pain
And smiled through the tears on the day of your birth?
She counted your fingers and toes and thank god you were whole
Son you outta know who loved you first, that's right
And who always came running everytime you cried out
And how many more things have you forgotten about
And who tried their best to teach you wrong from right
And how many nights did she leave on the light
While she waited and prayed that you came in
And who'd be there for you right up to the end
Think about it tonight

Are you telling me that you've never seen an angel?
Never felt the presence of one standing by?
No robe of white
No halo in site
Well you missed the most obvious thing
Aww Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes

Aww Man, are you blind?
Just look in your mothers eyes
That's right
