Let's see if this picture adding stuff works for me.

Uh oh! Really? You didn't eat him? He got mean on you? I have always heard that RI's are "mean" birds...at least that's what my MIL and my grandmother have both told me....I hope not. I have lots in the 'bator now.

My RI is as sweet as can be! She had been a meanie, but one day I had enough of it and packed her around the house for a few hours. She sat on my desk while I used my computer, my cat even jumped up on my lap and curled up with her! They first stared at each otehr with faces just inches apart one animal on each knee! Now she runs to greet me, and hangs out wherever I am in the yard! She's #3 in the pecking order.

Wow, I had quite the day today! (or was that yesterday??) left my house at 8 am in bright sunshine and got home at 9:30 pm and it's raining mules! (or at least that is what it sounds like when it hits my car.) The weather was beautiful and warm everywhere but here where it was 47 when I pulled into my driveway

.

I first visited CL and drooled over all her beautiful chickens and garden. It is sooo hard to pick chicks out when they all look so good! DS liked it CL's place best of all the places we went today - He liked the size of her house "becuase I wouldn't have to spend days cleaning my room and washing windows" and because it is close to fresh clams and crab, his favorite foods! Then I went to South Bend and bought smoked salmon, oysters, clams and crab meat (no whole crabs - fine with me, less work and no stinky carcasses in the garbage all week! )

Drove from there the Chehalis to meet CL. I let DS dig through the CD's and play what he wanted for the road trip. He liked The Kinks, Steve Miller Band, Greatful Dead and IZ. He did not care for Lois Armstrong. He was complaining of getting hungry and kept talking about wanting some Granny Smith apple (my least favorite variety of apple), so I finally stopped at safeway to get him some apples and some melon chunks for all the chickens I was transporting.

Then we met CL and Diane at Spiffy's - dropped off some HEAVY dive tanks and got some room back in my garage! I wish I had known it was their anniversary, I could have brought something special for them.

From there we went and met Scott at Patriot Farms. Very nice guy - I traded 3 of my cockerals for some meat and bought a bunch of grain. It was beautiful over there, not just the weather, but the setting. The grass was long between the trees and full of beautiful blue and white flowers. Here I only have sword ferns, sallal, and moss as thick as a mattress between our trees! DD was crying when I took the cockerals this morning. She doesn't want thme to be stew. I felt soooo guilty. The poor boys, it was like they knew what it meant when I took them away, it is what they whisper to each other on their roosts at night. The three of them were on their very best behavior, calm, sweet, completely not fussing when Scott inspected them. He put them in a large grassy run he had recently set up between the trees, and the boys seemed to be enjoying the grass and the sunshine, not stessed at all with the other cockerals until I walk to the fenc, and immediately they ran up to me and followed along the perimiter, looking up at me and making me feel so guilty for leaving them there. Scott said he is going to take them to auction rather than butcher them because they are so beautiful and mellow (I had a hard time choosing - I kept Duracell the copper backed cock becuause he was most handsome and Flop the runt because he's Olivia's favorite, but these 3 are the friendliest.)

As soon as I left Patriot (4pm), the rain started. From Patriot, I headed up the key peninsula to see CGG. I got 4 wee bantam cochin chicks in case mine don't hatch and she gave me 4 hatching eggs to put under another broody. From there we caught the ferry in Bremerton for Seattle. Well, caught is not the right word. We just missed it and so had a long wait for the next one. That added 90+ minutes or more to my trip, well, that and the badly marked detours from the ferry terminal to I-90. Prior to that I stuck very well to my schedule. Then the rain and getting everything through the mud up to my coop, yuck. ...and poor Olivia is very ill with a bad sore throat and a fever. Yesterday she was fine. This came on sudddenly.

Goodnight all!

Off to bed - DH will be making crab omelets for breakfast!

Wow look at this 3+ hours and no posts. Where is the night crew??
Yes Ogress is not kidding those dive tanks are VERY heavy!! I have a much better understanding of why divers fall into the water backwards.

I am back! not that anyone probably missed me, but I went to Minneapolis for a week. came home to some rather large orp teenagers. darn things could eat a house and still be hungry. so seriously...if anyone wants an exhibition black orp let me know. otherwise they are being culled. not enough room to raise them for freezer camp. the piggies.

I was going to say how much I liked that chick's choice of resting place: you will know exactly what its temperature is!

I used to. I used to give her cash, and when I was in CA I boxed up rice, canned goods, mac'n'chees, boxed scallop potatoes, oatmeal, you name it, and toiletries, deoderant, shampoo, cream rinse, pantie pads, girlie stuff, bras, panties, shirts, pants, socks.
The postage alone was killer.
I even sent her cat food, canned & kibbled.
She chastised me for getting the wrong size several times, so I am soooooooooooo over her.
She is off to Chicago to live with an on-line dude she met (on line) I am waiting for the call of "Oh Mom, I need a plane ticket home!"
So am almost afraid to answer my phone.

Okay, I wasn't going to share my latest story or my opinion....but ya' know me...big mouth and all. Okay, I ask you CL: How old is your daughter? If she calls will you send her $$$$? The money you need for your home. Okay, so this sounds selfish of me...but it sounds to me that you have bailed her out of more than one sticky situation...and what did you get in return...a big fat....

. Maybe it is time for her to fall on her face and have to live up to her responsibilities. I mean if she was 12 you would help...but ? If you do just tell her: "Hey, kid, you're on your own", I guarantee it will be the hardest thing you have ever had to do and I will sympathise....because I dont' know how well I would be able to do it.

My story: My DH's ex writes to him on Facebook and tells him that she needs $1300 so she can get a new apartment...I tell DH if he even sends her $13 I will cut off parts he really enjoys...he agreees with me and does not even respond to her. Well, now his son, whom has had little to NO contact with DH (by the son's choice) is hinting around about coming to live with us.....

NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!!!! The boy is in his 20's and says he cannot get a job because it hurts his neck when he lifts his head up (mind you he can play video games until early morning). And, he says people will not give him a job because his hair is too long (it is down to his butt). CUTTT IT!!!!! I think that deserves 2

Good luck CL, It is time you put YOU first and take care.

You are SO correct!!!
I did not list even half of the stuff, clothes, money sent for 2 seperate apartment rentals and other stuff we have done for this DD of mine.
You are so right & it has stopped.
I have lots of work to do & she could have come & worked & earned some cash for a year now and never did.
Applesauce there.
You are right-on Teresa!!!!!!!!!
