Pics I just took, all due to finding 2 Cuckoo Marans fart eggs today, along with 2 jumbos from the 3 old girls..only on the way indoors I cracked one of the fart eggs...

So I dumped it in a plastic container to cook up for the dog.
And when I did, I noticed the BIG bullseye on the yolk.....

My new boys are fertile!!!!!!!!
They are just starting to crow a week ago..and I have never seen them mount yet..but they must be...
Hard to see the bullseye right next to the camera flash reflection:

they are sooo beautiful!
OK, back to work for me.
I got my 20 foot long box, cut it in half in the company's driveway with sawzall (Ryobi)
Then DH & I loaded one piece in, and the second piece inside the first, strapped it down & brought it home.
We set the boxes level, cut & screwed ends on where we cut it in half, drilled holes in the bottom for water to escape, and then filled the trailer with compost, drove up & filled the 2 boxes, and will be ready to plant in, in a few minutes.

Then, just got a call from the contractor, the excavator will be here Monday or Tuesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We will have a foundation within a week he said, (next week)
And then the framing begins.
And we will need help once we start standing up walls & get to the loft (ceiling) floor.
So, able bodies that are interested in a nice bar-be-que and we will pay gas money to volunteers, PM me, I will make up a list, and notify anyone of the bar-be-que barn raising date.
OK??????
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO eggzcited!!!!!!!!!!!

Plan C:

This is what I've ordered, and hope to have next week for the chickens. I ordered two of everything. One set up for the Brabanters, and the other for the Spitz. I want to have a quad or trio in each set up.

This should give me some flexibility since I should be able to set up the kennels either separately or together according to my needs. I ordered the 7' X 12' X 6'. The only daytime predators I have ever seen come from the sky, and I will shut the birds up in the coops at night to keep them safe from night time predators. If it needs more ventilation, I can always drill a few more holes and cover them with hardware cloth. I was fortunate to find all of these on sale with free shipping. I may paint the interiors before I put the coops together. I may paint the exteriors at some point, too, but I can think about that.

I have a shipping crate in my backyard I no longer need (from Plan A) if anyone is interested.

Plan C better work. My coping skills are pretty much tied up in other things.

Looks good- wish I could just order something (having blown my budget on materials, alas) because today is one of those days when the closest I've gotten to working on the coop was to grab a hammer and pound in a scrap of livestock panel to mend a hole Suzzy found/made, got out to lay her egg, and then stood and warbled at me so she could be let back in the run to eat!

Then I turned around and noticed a rose (Reveil Dijonais, not available in North America last time I looked) I thought dead was alive and in deperate need of weeding... and now I am too tired to move for a bit.

I wish I had that kind of money

One can throw time or money at a problem. After Plan A and Plan B failed, I ran out of time, and had to throw money at the problem. I sold a bunch of jewelry from my first marriage. I rarely wore it any way. There are a couple more pieces, I'll have to sell to cover both set ups.

How exciting about the rare rose being alive.!

Yes, indeed; I believe I'm going to move it out of the lawn and replace it with something tougher, put it in a flower bed somewhere. It's supposed to be a large flowered climber but it's never thrived in the Pergola planting.

Ian and Sylvia got two slugs and a leatherjacket while I was weeding.
