We have 2 people signed up for our Marek's vaccination party Thursday at 4:00. It is free and we can do up to 250 chicks if anyone else is interested. I am in Spanaway.

Well, I am behind some 10 pages. No pips yet on my lockdown eggs. DH wants to go fishing....so I guess we are off to Spectcle for some bass fishing.

I let EVERYONE OUT TO FREE RANGE LAST NIGHT. I sat out there watching them, had a bowl of cooked macaroni noodles to give as treats to whomever came up to me....of course the Barred rock Bitties jumped right in my lap and mauled me for them. Crazy birds. Adam - our Serama from Jbear - he is a HOOT to watch. He tries to put the moves on anything that moves. He got his clock rung by a couple of the big girls from the main run....they were not interested in such a tiny little man. Poor frustrated Adam . What I was glad to see is that my gray and white cat (Poofy) payed them no attention. Walked right past them and straight into the run - he is a mouser - not interested in birds. Sure enough 1/2 hour later he had a mouse. Good cat.

My chick that had been sick is now back with the family. The deciding moment was yesterday, when I noticed all poops looked good, saw her eating crumbble...thought I would let her stay in the house one more night, but she had different ideas. She flew/hopped up to the top of the rubbermaid tub and watched what was going on in the kitchen - it was still 70 degrees out....so out the birdie went...can't even tell which one she was this morning. Doing fine - I think she got over heated and/or dehydrated.

It is understood when purchasing Ameraucanas from a feed store that they are most likely easter egger breeds, and not actually Ameraucana or however it is correctly spelled. What I am wondering is, what do they usually cross them with ? Five of our girls are ee's but there are 2 of this color and 2 of that color and 1 another color, Thoughts ?

I'm OK as long as I don't move: getting out of bed was a treat, let me tell you.

The Moles are obviously out to get my sister and me: she fell in almost exactly the same way when we were working cattle last month, only further, with her head downhill, and actually rebroke a rib that was broken when a mean mama cow knocked her around in March.

The new Bayer Advanced seems to work better as pain relief than plain old aspirin, although I had to double up on Aspirin and Acetominiphen (as directed by my doctor, do not try this at home, yadayadayada) to get to sleep, and did not get any work done on the hoop house after dinner.

Knees are evidence, as a friend of mine once said, against any kind of drive for perfection, intelligent intent, or loving providence: the things are just nonsensically badly designed and prone to failure. I've been dealing with mine by wearing heavy cotton above-the-knee socks rolled down three times to make a soft brace: I'm apparently allergic to Neoprene these days and the nettlerash when I wear my prescribed brace is... uninspiring. winter socks in summer would be a problem, but this is 2011.

SOOOOO.......My Marans hen crowed this morning. When I put her in the shed because she was acting broody and aggressive she CROWED!!!! What the heck? I am about ready to get rid of either my Black Ameaucana or the Splash Marans. They really don't like each other and they fight. They are fine on their own but lately the just don't get along. Any takers? I am kinda getting tired of the chicken drama this year. My chicken drama. I am hoping beyond hope that the little cockeral grows up to be the head honcho of the coop. Maybe he can keep some order. Sheesh!
