Seems that one of my RIR B is pretty happy in the hew coop. She is the one who has not been broody. When I walk out there I will say where's my little red hen. She comes running to the gate and lets me reach down and pick her up in 1 hand. Then I tuck her in my arm and walk around with her. I don't thinbk it will be long fore chee vill jump in my lap.

And she will want a bed next to the Dragon....

The babies I got today are Rocks mostly:
Buff, White, Partridge and Barred, also 2 replacement Cornish cross, and 3 free chicks:::
An EE, an extra Partridge Cockkeral and a white crested black polish, all most likely cockerals, you know the free thing....
Most of these are Diane's (Boldogkennel) for layers, some are mine.
After the last delivery of Bar-be-cue special..I have about 75 chicks here now....

Now there is 7 doz game & quail and upland game eggs in the incubator, and another set of Icelandics.

OK, once again I am outta here...my pumpkin monster is growing totally yellow leaves, cannot figure out why??
All other squash in the bed are deep green...so?
Gotta figure it out~~

I've got babies! After a total failure on the first hatch due to believing the preset digital read out on the incubator was correct - I recalibrated the incubator and got a second one, a LG, to put 1/2 the eggs in. This time I watched the temp. closely in both incubators and had about the same percentage hatch in both of them. There are 18 chicks - lavender orpingtons, wheaten ameraucanas, white ameraucanas, a black and two blue ameraucanas. I got a chuckle out of this photo with the little orp in the center checking out his buddy!

By the way, if you decide what you want in a rooster is a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, I'm definitely one long on those. You could have it for free, even.

I know for sure I want Wyandotte's. I thought I'd start with a GLW Roo, and a few SLW hens. That gives me sex-link chicks. I really like the BLRW and the Partridge, and ... and ... and ..

BLRWs and SLWs make sex-linked, too. Illia has explained it to me, and one of the regulars in the Wyandotte thread, and I accidentally drank two glasses of wine with dinner, and am currently not up to explaining the color difference.

I'm seriously thinking I'm going to end up with more Hamburgs: Wyandottes are beautiful, and make great roaster carcases, but they lay the same size eggs as the Hamburgs and eat twice the feed. And I'm shamefully infatuated with Hamburg's looks and personalities.
