Here is a little funny for ya. Today I was accross the road weedeating I look up and there is DW. So I stop and she is in panic "there is a chicken out in the barn". so I go over and she had tried to net her ( yes I keep a fishing net in the barn). The hen ended up way down in a corner under some building supplies. so I climb down thereand the hen runs out the other side then flies into the other part of the barn. I go in there and before I can get her she goes back to where we were. This happens a couple times before she lands down behind my stash of barn boardand I finally get her. Seems that DW didn't do what I am always telling her. Look around and shooo them back and watch close as you go in or out.

I have three coops.

#1 This one is 3x4

#2 This one is 8x10

#3 Last is my newest - a "tri-plex" 6x12 -- divided into 3 4x6 'apartments'

#2 was pretty expensive because of the 4x4 pressure treated base. It's a beast, probably weighs over 1k lbs. It was my first build, and I did it with plans from the 'net. Now that I understand coops better, I'd not build that one again - at least not exactly like it. Which one sparks your interest?

Well I'm starting to understand what you were talking about when you told me to be careful with the B RIRs. Everytime I try to go out the gate, those little turkeys are on my heels so tight that I can't turn around without stepping on one. They so want to follow me out!

I have one that when I go out there I say where is my little red hen? She runs over and waits for me at the door. When I go in I pick her up and carry her around while in there. Then set her down and try to get out the door.

Sorry! Bantam Rhode Island Reds. CR was telling me how his like to follow him out of the coop if he's not careful and I'm discovering the same with the ones I just picked up. They are so little but have big ideas!

One thing I didn't expect... They are heavy for their size!
The B Leghorns I have are light as a feather( sorry for the pun) but the RIRs are much heavier!
