Hi b.t.
That's a beautiful garden! I'm curious about the netting and frame. How do you get in to harvest your crop? I used to use a similar arrangement over our strawberries, but it was a killer to get into, not to mention my aching back by the time I was half done picking! I keep looking for something easier.

I just drape the netting over the pvc and use those girlie hair clamp thingies to hold the netting down at the bottom of the netting. Then, when I want to get in, I just move the clip/clamp thing. So far it keeps the birds out and the bunnies haven't figured it out either.

BNF- We had some left over geotextile fabric from the french drain we put in. That's the felty stuff they put down on roads before they put rock. I had to use a hammer to get the landscape staples to go through it. It keeps the weed covered. I ran out and had to get the Home Depot version which is shiney woven plastic stuff and is not as good. But a roll of the GT for roads is like 15 ft wide and 600 ft long. Oh and $500 bucks! Didn't need quite that much.
We are planning on putting rock that matches the retaining wall we put in the front yard and driveway over the GT around the Leyland cypress trees. Just waiting on a friend to get his dump truck running so that we don't have to pay the $200 delivery fee!
I also wanted something on the paths that are right next to the garden beds but I haven't figured out what to use. Gravel? Bark? Hay? All have pros and cons. Any suggestions?????

On the off chance this is a serious question, the Russians have been providing more than half of the International Space Station transport for the past couple of decades; the Shuttle brought up great big single-piece equipment and huge loads of supplies as well as relatively few changes of personnel. It's a Space Truck, not the astronautmobile.

Guh. Another low fasting BG (74), after cutting back insulin a little at all times and eating my bedtime snack even though it grossed me out. Another day of being careful and test, test, test, with my fingers turned into pincushions. And no heavy lifting, which means no run construction.

Meanwhile, this years brancher is hanging out in the orchard and screeching hysterically, and Terre, in particular, is NOT HAPPY; I need to figure out a bit of cover to make her feel more secure.

Picked up the roofing materials for the coop, hoping to get it completed in the next week or so at the most. Can't wait, but best that I wait for my friends who have that building knowledge to get time to come help. Slowly but surely.
