LaSombra Ithink some of each, not sure help me out here Mike.

Zgoatlady You don't have to have fan in the LG but from all the info I got it is much better. What brand of goats do ya have? Pygmy by chance? IS it NPGA conf?

ETA somebody said they would like some olive eggs to hatch. Well I need to find out who and how long they can be kept before they must go in bator. I think I can rustle some from DN and bring to chickenstock.

Mornin' All

Still waiting for more recipes.

How about posting an invitation in the chickenstock area again, for the party. Looks like we have lost a few people on here. It would be nice to have a crowd big enough to justify the hall that is being rented.

My suggestion for wording:

Topic line: Washington State Potluck: Feb 28th

Then all pertainent information and a link to the Washingtonians link as well as somebodies (Not mine, I can't keep up with it) name as contact person.

Chicken Rustler
I have Nubian's and also Toggenburgs, they are going to start kidding next month we start off with 4 I think. Not ready to do the milking thing twice a day yet. So much time.

That is a really good idea! I know a lot of people don't make it into the lower categories on the index at all. I wonder if there is a way to send out a mass emailing. Maybe TerrieLacy would know how to do that.

I have been taking on too many projects lately and having some difficulty. So I can't volunteer for these things. Maybe Justbugged will be able to follow through on these. Or somebody else have the time?

I think you got 4 or 5 BCM and the rest were Barnies.
Nice job on the banty laying her eggs now............way cool!

There seems to be alittle confusion about holding eggs out of the incubator.

I'll try to help.
At best, you only want them to keep for up to 7 days!
Even know that there not in the incubator you must still turn them.
This stimulates the embro and keeps it alive and healthy.
Try to keep as even heat between 60-70* alittle cooler or hotter not a big deal.
Then for the day you want them to hatch, that is the day you put them in your incubator 21 days later chicks.
Some cycles are different so you have to do the math. Pheasants are 23 days and I think Banties are 19? not sure.

I hope someone can use this information
Mike

Thanks Mike. I made my first attmept at candling today since it is day 7. I have a couple slikie eggs that I am not sure about and the one dark one I got from you but the rest look like what I have read they should be.

I think I figured out why my turner motor went bad. I discovered that I had things configured in such a way that the turner motor was right under and almost touching the heat element.

To those who may be planning to watch the big game hope yer fav team wins. We had planned to watch but am too busy making room for chickens and probably won't be done in time. Just taking a quick break while I get DW set with lunch and meds.

Auction alternative in Western Washington.

As some of you may know I hatch and sell lots of chicks, as well as grown birds to
finance my poultry addiction. Well, a friend here in Chehalis, getting sick and
tired of giving auctioneers 30 or 35% of his hard earned money has opened a swap
meet style sale which will be every Saturday.

The first was yesterday, and although it was a small start it was great! There
were only 6 sellers but most sold everything they brought. I sold $260 worth of
birds and paid only the $10 sellers fee rather than the $78 the auctioneer would
have taken out of my pocket. Besides, I was able to pretty much name my own
prices and dicker a little if necessary rather than leave the prices up to the chance of
the auction style sale. I know where I'll be next Saturday morning.

For more info go to

We're hoping to grow this into a permanent fixture to benefit the entire community.

Good on you Doug! I know what the economy is like here in SW Washington and I am always grateful to hear that folks are finding their way like this in times like these.

I'm just down the road here in America's Vancouver, so please *ping8 me if you have anything hot going there later this year, and maybe the Missus and I will take a drive up there some bright weekend.

Good Luck and all my best!

Cheers!

Doug, I was there yesterday and did buy a couple birds from "Little Chicks" (Stephanie Flanery). It was really exciting to go to a chicken swap meet, even if it was small. I will be back. I didn't realize it was going to be every Saturday. I should have checked out the prices on feed. I saw the truck but was too excited about seeing the chickens

I sure hope this grows. I'd love to see some more variety. I suppose I should probably show up early also.

I saw someone with banty chicks, but couldn't get any chicks right now. I'm just curious if you know what breed they were? They were awefully cute.
