The teal is indeed black with a sheen, just a very good sheen. It's common to find ones with a REALLY good sheen when they have duckwing genes.

As for his color, honestly, these days telling columbian vs dominant white is hard. My own EE I instantly guessed dominant white before I even knew Columbian does the same thing, and was right because his offspring were white. . . . However I have seen some columbians with the black leakage your male has on the chest. But it isn't common.


I'm guessing dominant white, but offspring will be the only way to really know.

yes, he also has other black feathers with metallic sheen, I'll see if I can snag one of those too, mail them to you, for contrast

at least three of the pullets also have metallic-sheen hackle feathers ... flashing green and purple in the sunlight .. this batch from Privett seems unusually colorful ... I haven't seen any other EE owners commenting on that

actually, as a chick he was dark chocolate brown without chipmunk stripes; as a teenager he was mostly black, with only a bit of white and a silver-gray breast; it was amazing watching all the gold-bordered hackle and saddle feathers suddenly appear, and the white portions become more solid white rather than black feathers with a white border

Well speaking of catching up, had kind of a bad day yesterday, found a blrw, from my fist batch dead!! I have NO idea how it died, I'm thinking it was too crowded in the apple box they use at night, I hadn't done a head count recently, anyway, it had been dead a while, so it must have been in the back and someone pulled it out!! ( sorry for the graphics)
Then, one of my Muscovy hens hatched out 7 babies like a week ago, yesterday morning, I went out and there were only 6??!! So I looked all over and couldn't find the other one, I thought a cat got it or something! Then I went into the garden and I heard peeping?? The little guy came out from underneath one of my tomato plants!! I took him in and put him under the lights and gave him food and water and he was gone an hour later!!! .......THEN..... I was supposed to buy a spotted Nubian doeling, she was still with her mom and I was supposed to get her in few weeks, I got an e-mail from the owner and she lost her mother yesterday, so being the only link to the blood line she wants to keep her!! Which I totally understand, I mean I think I would too, if it were me, but, it's just weird all those things happening at once!!!???? On a positive note, I found a buyer for my Thoroughbred colt, so that is a relief!!! Anyway, that's it for me, besides the fact I think I'm finally getting proficient at milking so it's not taking as long, I think my doe is relieved too!!

If I could make any changes it would be to the JD mower. The exhaust blows out the same side as the catcher so when you are removing the catcher you either get a respiratory system poisoning of toxic fumes or you hold your breath. If you do the latter you better be quick! Told my rep about. If they ever do a redesign they need to move the exhaust to the other side. I'm not sure about other brands, JD is the only one I've used. Of course thats just a girls point of view. Guys would probably not give a rip. Oh, ha ha RIP! Rest In Peace! What does exhaust do to your lungs? Cancer?

You had to be present to win. Jerry was great! He had Hot dogs, soda, a band and a horse demonstration! Lots of people there, we missed you!
