From yer neighbor 20 miles to the south on the OTHER Hiway 12. If I can be any help in getting you started or if you would just like to come look at my set up let me know. Let me warn ya prepare for a terrible ADDICTION. We started a year ago. We were just gonna have about 6 layers. Well after our first trip to buy chicks we came home with 15 large breed and 3 Bantam. I now have 15 more chicks that are about 2 months and 7 eggs in the incubator due Feb 21. I am going to have to do some serious expanding on coop/run.
Hi there, Mikey. Good to see someone close by to me and Chicken Rustler. I'm a little further than him, Mossyrock. Loving the chickens. I got 6 chicks my first trip to the store last May. I now have 13 layers and 2 roosters, plus 2 chicks that I've hatched out this winter and 2 banty roosters that I bought at the sale at Yard Birds last Sat... and then another close to 50 chicks are ordered! Course, some of those are for other people around here...

A lot depends on how many chicks you want. And what breed. I think most of the hatcheries have min orders of like 25.
Last year when we bought chicks we got some from Del's and some from The Farm Store. I was in Kaija's last week and they had RIR and Americana ( probably really just EE's ). I know the other 2 stores say they will be getting chickes in March.

Well, last year, I bought most of my chicks from Del's in Chehalis. A few of them were from some guys in Glenoma (MZM Farms). This year, I've ordered from Welp hatchery and will see how that goes. They arrive in March... and then I have another order from mypetchicken.com for this summer, just 8 chicks.
Anyway, I have had no problems with my chicks from Del's. They have a fair bit of variety of the more common chickens.
I've been happy with my chicks from Cackle. Not so much with my chicks from Ideal, and we've placed our first order with McMurray due to be shipped the week of March 8th.
Cackle is minimum 15 order, but you have to order each breed in sets of 5, Ideal has a minimum dollar amount, but will throw in a lot of packing peanuts if you only order a few. I believe that My Pet Chicken is only 3 required, but you're going to pay 30 bucks to ship them if you do that, may as well go with the larger order at that point in my honest opinion.
