Hmmm - I think the baby has decided she wants out. Maybe today is the day, or tomorrow. The only time contraction meds worked on me was if they were injectible. The pills did nothing. I don't know why they give them, I've never met anyone that said they worked for them. It's almost like the baby becomes accustomed to it, so by the time you are at the hospital for the injection, the dose they need to stop the contractions is huge.
Take it easy, stay near a phone, gas in your car, and a big, absorbent towell on the seat. I had contractions like that for a full day with DS, then at 3 am my water broke ... just slow at first but by 8 am I was in the hospital swearing through each one (I whispered, not yelled - and Alex did not come out until almost midnight by C) One of my friends (we met at the hospital that day when they were making us two laboring, profanity spewing women walk up and down the hallways) was in Linen''s & Things at the cash-register, feeling bloated but fine when she got her first big contraction, and it broke her water, one of those big gushes that they say almost never happen! There were lots of big, absorbant towells available. If you do start leaking, don't panic, with both of us is was still many hours before the baby was born - there is enough fluid in there to fill a swimming pool!
