I'm amused at all the "camp" terms. What in the world does this inverted one involve? Just holding him upside down? Swinging him in the air?

Yep, hold him upside down and give him a GOOD shake

. I had a BR roo who was mean
rant.gif
he would attack my son and the landlord and they are both over 5'10" they would kick him and he would come right back for more. I would go in the coop at night and grab him off the roost and turn him upside down and shake him good!!!!!!!!!!! He NEVER attack me or my DD.

Someone said their grandpa would do the same, but when he had the roo upside down he would stick his head in a five gallon bucket of water and dunk him a few times. Didn't take the roo long to figure out who was the BOSS

Buster sounds like a good name for him then! I'm sure he'll learn who's boss! If not, there are two more here!
The Saturday after the fair, I have a bunch of roos that are going to auction. My Cuckoo roo will be first in line! He's a booger to all the birds and to us!

I think my EE pullet Lily is trying to lay an egg!!!

She has been in and out of the coop this afternoon looking like she wanted to but wasn't sure what to do.
I went out there just now and she is all settled in the corner of the coop looking serious.
I may get to see what color eggs she is going to lay today!!!!

what about a dress in red and white gingham check ? with a yoke, with ruffles (flattering to many figure types) -- shirtwaist sort of dress but with cotton lace to make it dressy rather than school-marm-ish ... could also be a skirt and blouse combo ...

yes, Western suits are actually fairly easy to get --- and for Western style clothing, one recommendation is Petticoat Junction in south Everett -- they have a website and they're really neat people (focusing on square dance clothing, but much of it is "street legal" too)

http://www.petticoatjct.com/

if you want "borrowed" -- DH has a nifty western shirt, white with embroidered red and blue roses on the yoke ....

(don't know if you would consider that "tacky" or not)

dress darkwash jeans are often considered "Western dress up wear" .. also a string tie, since guys are much more comfortable wearing those rather than a conventional knotted tie

to coordinate, you could wear an embroidered jeans skirt ?

just tossing some ideas around

your daughter in Wyoming may know of good Western clothing stores there, too

actually I will be going down there in Oct, but, I have lived there and Casper only has one, as much as Wyoming is "the Cowboy state" They really don't have a lot of Western stuff, Cheyenne may have a little more, but, not sure I could make it down there before I left!! Thanks for the ideas and the websites!! All good to ponder!!

Just want to say Welcome to all the newbies

Sorry I'm missing so much of the forum right now, just winding down milking and getting the girls weaned, had to move chickens around and ducks too!! I think one of my turkeys is egg bound!!?? She keeps plopping down and painting, and seems painful but, I can't see where?? So I'm going to see if I can find an egg there somewhere!!! I have lost three Muscovy ducklings!!! One got in the pool and must not have made it out and I don't know where i was when that happened!!
hit.gif
then one I found off away from the mom and others and it only make it a day, and then, I found one hatching and it started to pip I went out to check on it agian, and it was dead in the shell!!
hit.gif
Anyway, I still have 5 from one hatch, three from another and three more hens on nests, so I'm thinking we will have more pretty soon!!
ya.gif
getting ready to incubate some chicken eggs, too. Oh BTW, the picture I had of the Roo that lookes like Kaneke's wild maui roo? I found a picture of it, it is a brown leg horn!! That's kinda of interesting! Anyway, I just want to say thank you to all my BYC friends who have sent me pms of western stuff and here on the forum too! It's nice to know people who are creative and talented and are interested in others!! Thank you so much!!

My garden is out of control and so are my goats and chickens so I will be glad when it's a bit cooler and I'm not running around crazy!!!

Hope all is well with everyone and you are enjoying the last of our "summer". I hope RFF and baby are doing well, you are in my thoughts! I think we are definetly going semi formal for this affair, budget being as it is, and so, so far it looks like, Terry will wear, nice dark wash blue jeans, a black western sport coat, dark red wool vest, ivory western shirt, we found a montana silversmith eagle bolero, (this is just a thought) a black cowboy hat, and black boots. I would like to go with muted red white and blue, I personally do not look good in red, and I still haven't figured out what I'm even going to wear yet, besides clothes!! lol! I have a picture in my head, just not sure if I can find it, or if I can afford it, Anyway, thanks to all! I'll be on here off and on for a little while, and I'll be back!! you are all warned!! LOL!
