Why do you guys have to choose such a far off city.

Couldn't it be Olympia or somewhere I don't have to cross so many bodies of water for?

. . . Looks like I'm not going. But atleast that gives more time for, umm. . . Well if it is sunny, plenty of time for gardening. (fat chance of that happening. . . )

The picture doesn't do this beautiful bird justice.
Was born October 1st
Just started crowing two weeks ago.
We thought we might have one that never crows. LOL!

Well early on it was discussed at length an decided that we should choose a location based on 2 things. One where we could get a building and 2 near where the majority of people were. Even though I am 40 miles south of Oly I was one who pushed for this. Sorry it isn't convienant for you but it is hard to make these things work for all and the main people who did the planning like Ron, Kim and Christina and others who have slipped my mind Deserve a huge THANK YOU for making this happen !!!

Also to any of the new people IT IS NOT TO LATE to jump on board. I am sure a great time will be had by all because BYC PEOPLE ARE AWESOME, and I haven't even met them.

I hope everybody remembers CAMERAS I think there may be some good times to be captured to share with others.

Oh and one last thing check the locks on yer coop before ya leave to go to the party Chicken Rustler will be in town and he may be planning a shopping trip.

I had a Silkie 'chick' we called her Buffy for awhile - now (s)HE's 'Red' (even though buff colored, he's 'Red' at heart - sooo spunky and protective of our little black Silkie hen - and what a fantastic little crow he's developed). I was going to see if anyone out there had a Blue or Splash Silkie Roo or a Buff hen, but my two have become such a pair don't know if I could force them to bond with new 'mates'. Guess I'll just enjoy them and not look to hatch chicks this Spring.

Hey, I'm headed over from Whidbey as well (I'm in Clinton). Would suggest carpooling except my daughter and her family are in Bothell and if they get wind of me being over will force me to visit afterwards and conduct myself like a doting Grandma. But hope I get to meet you there!

I was thinking that the gathering might be an opportunity to do some swaps as well (wouldn't be hot and sunny so little danger to the traveling birds), but maybe it would be too distracting from the 'getting to know you' purpose.

Wow a puppy too!. So are the black Shepards coming into vogue? I was at our local garden center yesterday and there was a guy there with a gorgeous black German Shepherd. I though it was a large boned Belgian Sheepdog, but it made sense when he said it was a shepherd. But really, it was a very beautiful (and fairly docile) dog.

Yep this "all hours" thing is our experience. Our neighbors had a Roo for about three years who sounded like he was being slowly strangled when he crowed. And he was a definite insomniac and seemed to crow off and on all night (must have slept all day). We kinda missed him though when he was gone.
