I have mine hanging from the chain with separate " S "hooks at the top and bottom.

S Hooks! That's it! You can tell I don't know my way around the workshop very well.

A new question. My three girls are fairly young, hatched in April and May. They did not have roosts at their previous home, so will they just learn how to get up on ours by themselves? It is 3 feet high (they are large girls, Sussex and Orp). Is that too tall for them? Would it be better if we had a couple older girls to show them how to roost and where to lay (when they are ready)? I am thinking about getting two more hens, who are already laying, who could show them the ropes....what do you think? Uh oh, chicken math strikes again!

I would start them with a shorter tem. roost about a foot high near where they are cuddling together. I have Speckled Sussex and it took them a long time to learn to roost they are heavy and they have to get brave enough to hop up and down, the only things mine are not cautious about are food and foraging.

I just love them so much..

Hi guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wee.gif

All excited I get 5 minutes to say HI!!!!!!!!!!
Gotta go cuz we just got in from fishing, had to lock up coops, and clean fish...and cook dinner.
The King run is slowing down despte the lack of rain.
The salmon never come up unless there IS rain, so this whole thing is weird...
But no silver, chum or dogs yet.
So, we'll see if they don't stay out & waite for the rains.
Hope all is well with you all, & I miss you.
I am fishing 1 day & canning tomatoes, slasa, tomatoe soup, freezing 10 pounds (at least) of green beans every 3 days.........added to the tons of peas in the freezer,
I gotta go get a new freezer.
And deer & elk season just around the bend.
OK...
try to get on in the next few days...miss you & hugs to you all!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are those peas or green beans?

Nice cherries though! You really oughta try the Green Grape variety though. They're out of this world delicious, and so different from the reds, oranges, and yellows. It is kinda hard to describe them.

Where've ya been?

Oh, and these are what my daily pickings of green beans look like. Nice and thin.

( I usually get more than this per day, but I only pick them per meal, so they're extra fresh)

I pick mine thinner than that so I dont have to bother cutting the ends off. Steam them, toss them with a bit of sea salt and toasted hazlenut oil and my kids will gobble them up faster than French Fries! I should stop planting the yello varieties - I pick them to early to yellow.

I have a greenhouse bench set up in my cochin run. I thought cochins don't fly. They ate all my basil, peppers spinach..... I'm waiting for room in the garden to translplant but everything there is growing too slow this year.
