See, part of my problem is I'm an INTP. We like to analyze everything meticulously before making a decision - and occasionally miss out on deals in the process.
Ron's friend unfortunately is not coming through for me. He hasn't contacted me since 9/20, when he came to talk about the coop plans.
Earlier today, I posted on Craigslist, asking for someone to build me a coop. I posted links for two coops I liked and asked anyone interested to let me know what they would charge. So far, I've heard from five people. Only one appeared to have actually looked at the links. He told me he'd charge $300 plus materials - but I haven't priced all the materials yet.
I also heard back from another guy with a coop on Craiglist (that he built), and he has a variety of coops and will do custom jobs. He's up in Grand Mound. I'm not sure what he'd charge to do a larger run, because all the pics he sent me had very small runs.
Another BYC member sent me the name of yet another custom coop builder - but I haven't contacted him yet.
I also went through Craiglist looking for dog runs today. I found one for $100 (and they could probably be brought down a bit) for one of those types that wraps around poles. It's 12x6x6. I went and looked at it tonight. There's no way I can put it together myself, and my husband will not be any help. The sellers emailed me after I left and told me they'd help me assemble it. Can't beat that. It's kind of old though, and I know I'd have to fortify the bottom (which has gaps) as well as cover the top, so I'm not sure how much savings it would actually be over making a new run with hardwire cloth (not to mention kind of tacky-looking?). But it would definitely be easier to buy just a coop from a custom seller than a full coop and run.
There's that coop-and-run by Seattle Saltbox (or whatever he calls himself) but since I didn't take his original offer, I imagine I will now have to pay the $995+$100 delivery that he advertises on his website. And I'm totally resistant to spending that much.
I don't have any problem helping out with building a coop, but I don't have any power tools, nor a truck, and I always have my curious 18 month old with me. Makes it hard to do much.
P.S. Thanks for thinking of me!
I don't have a lot of time left either. I should take a pic of the birds in the trough so you can see how big they are (and how small it is).
