Well not to but in here but but Im gonna. I don't know where my booth will be at Stevenson but here is where we are staying (minus the green bug). We will be camping on site. I think we will also be leaving around noon as I will be making a stop at the scrap yard en-route.

I may take you up on that, if DH is later getting back than I expect .. or if something happens between now & then .. when you're the age we are, you have to consider that "sudden lifestyle changes" may occur at any minute

also depends on whether I will have a good reason to go to Olympia (drop things off for DS?) or Tacoma/UP (Dana and the wine shop?) .. I don't need coffee, we get Tillamook at Costco (right now we have lots), and I don't have an incubator so I won't be trying to hatch some of TJ's fertile eggs --- what would I do with white Leghorns anyway ??

but seems to me from years past, that there are a lot of excellent goodies to be had at TJ's, at a reasonable price

DH did come home from the feed store with treats for Roxy -- pumpkin and beet ????
ep.gif
but Roxy loved them, loved them enough to venture through the dog door and out into the yard, though she stayed very close to the house .. did not run after the dogs she could see across the way (a hundred yards away or thereabouts)-- cute heart shaped "cookies" -- I tossed them after teasing her sniffing nose with them ... and she couldn't resist

chickens safely tucked away for the evening, their water and feed refilled for morning, and tomorrow I'll go collect a few more of neighbor's fallen wormy apples for them .. I also pulled off a few wild rose hips; they were uncertain about those until Roopert gave an enthusiastic squeaky review, then the hips disappeared rapidly along with the snowberries I'd collected in the same place ... the Indian plum and Oregon grape are dried up and fallen

That Trader Joe's in University Place is 5 minutes from my house. It's in Green Firs Village which is on 40th and Bridgeport. If I can ever pick anything up for you before I'm headed towards Yelm (to the casino) I'd be happy to do so.

Illia, so sorry over your shredded hand and the disappointment over your mastiffs; is there a rescue organization for the breed or for similar ones?

It's a lesson to me: I'm thinking (as one does when the existing pets are very elderly) of replacement dogs and toying idly with the idea of having friends in England find a terrier puppy for me- Norwich, Norfolk, Welsh, or Border. They're all much more common in Great Britain than here and closer to old-farm-type: I got freaked out by a Scottie jumping up to lick my face after knowing the old stand-offish, formal, rat-hunter sort and the slow fat Cairns and tiny toy-sized Norfolks. But I suspect it's better to meet the breeder and parents and take what I can get here.

What I really want is a miniature poodle but it seems as if nobody's keeping them anymore except dog-show completists. They're the right size, just less than knee-high, and I've never met a stupid one.

Of course with a 1400 square foot house and two existing great big healthy geriatric case dogs I've no business even thinking of such things- I'm reminded of someone I knew on a garden posting board who was a Newfoundland Rescue foster person and discovered one day that she could not walk to the front door from her chair in the living room for big black dogs.

We've had experience with Dogos, Cane Corsos, lotsa Pitbulls, we bred and showed Akitas, had a couple Bulldogs, - no problems - But the female Boerboel we have, though is the family fav of the pair, I really don't see much in, but I'll admit, she's much more of a love than the male. When she's not being fed.

Now, Danes, never been disappointed. They're like Pitbulls. Although yes there are some scarred Pits out there, the good ones are unbeatable!! We've got a girl right now who loves people so much that her excitement can scare some. She's just so wiggly and LOVES meeting new people!

Oops, forgot your Great Dane is a *he* - sorry. Yes, I was sure you have experience with other "muscle" dogs before. Don't know what you call them, but all of the above breeds are for owners with a good firm hand. Here, I don't want to be challenged by my dogs. Pretty much just lovey type dogs needed in the 'burbs. They do a darn good job keeping invading critters out of our yard though. And I know if I were threatened my Golden Retriever wouldn't hesitate to defend me.

ETA: One of the things I appreciate most about my Golden boy is that wonderful "soft" mouth of his. He once stole a cube of butter off the counter that I was going to use for baking and took it all the way downstairs to the backyard where I found it later with the tiniest couple of little teeth indents in it. He takes treats like a gentleman. But woe to the soft toy I bring home from Petsmart once or twice a year. He will love it for a couple of days, but then it dies a horrible death. Pieces from one side of the yard to the other.

Yeah, there's something to be said for owning a dog that everyone knows is a "good dog" and a Golden is a classic for that: I've never known one who wasn't a big lump oh love and affection!
