anyway, it's raining/drizzling a very chilling and miserable day -- it IS a day to stay inside, warm, cuddled up

wish I could loan you this very warm, very touchy pointer ... it's flattering when she flops into me, but a nuisance when I am trying to think or type

True, but that just makes the south-wind protection for the Hamburgs more important; luckily about 90% of the fix I figured out can be done sitting down in the house. Would that they were all so easy.

I got done with the last of the Eprinex this morning, all went well.
Now all birds have been treated.
The Cornish DID have some feather lice, fast moving tiny red bugs.
Glad it is all under control now.
Seems the feather lice show up this time of year when birds are all moulting..the lice eat the "plastic" looking feather protector shafts...
So, in 2 weeks we repeat this process.
Also moved birds today, and will be culling a few more.
Flock reduction for winter.
No need to feed & house extra cockerals or really old hens.
OK, off to the store I go..making a big tamale pie for dinner tonight.
I forgot what Pongoid called the pie in Mexican....next time I will have to write it down.

I have to move my chickens!

A grand total of 5 feet!

In the city of Tacoma, the chickens have to be 50' from any residence unless you have their permission. I found out that the neighbor's lot is 38' across, unlike ours that is 50' across. The next neighbor down built their house right on the alley, 4' off the property line. My chicken coop is 3' off the fence line.

We have two weeks to move or get rid of the chickens. The neighbors will not give their permission. They will also not shut up their barking dogs at 3am, nor will they ever have less than 6-8 cars parked on their lawn.

Being that the chickens are in an insulated shed with a poured concrete floor, no, the coop cannot be "just moved".

This came about because one of the neighbors complained.

We also have a warning about a violation of "solid waste disposal". The only thing that I can find that might fit that description is my truck. It looks like crap, but it runs and the tabs need to be renewed next month.

Those nights are so much fun, aren't they? Rest your body today even if you can't rest your mind.

Yeah, definitely. Which means not taking the livestock panel off the Wyandotte run and replacing it with two layers of fencing over PVC arches. Even though Miss Perfect is home sick for another day. Oh, well.

Speaking of reasons that my family holds on to our land: we have no artificial controls over how we build or where we build animal housing. Wish I had a good solugtion for this ridiculousness, though!
