I sprout seeds for my parrots sometimes. I just use their birdseed, though. I add a couple drops of grapefruit seed extract to discourage bacterial growth.

Wish you were closer! I'd give my Wheaten roo the chop and give your boy a good home! Im so sick of my roo, he's such an applesauce head!

I could meet you half way. I think that there is a Del's feed store in Port Orchard area. I would rather see him go to a good home, than the auction.

Thank you for the tip. I have been wanting to sprout seeds for the nasty little house birds. I have 12 or 13 little birds in a flight cage. They noisy little buggers, and they sure do eat a lot. They also waste a lot of food too.

you can still find shooting stars and wild strawberries in the woodsy part of the Evergreen gun range, west of Littlerock ... some clearing was done to put a couple of additional shooting stations in, but the wild flowers are flourishing there on the mounds surround the big trees .. or at least they were the last time I was out there

interesting note this morning; I was putting the black oil sunflower feeder in the run when several of the pullets decided to make a break for it, out the sliding access to the run -- I hadn't gotten it quite closed enough

I tried to herd them back in, since Roxy-dog was bounding down the steps from the deck ... but they ALL decided to fly out instead

I yelled at Roxy "NO CHICKENS !" and she stopped, pointed, and whined but did not chase nor approach them, even when they scurried away from my herding arms

and she stayed about 15 feet from them, very interested but also obedient, while I finally got them moving back into the run

all this took about ten minutes

she got a great bit GOOD DOG ! and a couple of dog cookies when I urged her back into the house

Wow... GOOD DOG!

I wish I could trust all of my dogs with the birds, and kitties. I can trust half of the pack, but the two youngest nasty little dogs are unable to control their prey drive. I really need to re-home at least 2 of the nasty little dogs soon. I am down to just 6 dogs now. I had 9 dogs for way to long this past year.

Well this has felt like old times. The night crew has been in the building.

Hints to teach them to use the egg boxes!

I have two layers who don't use the provided nesting boxes. One has laid her egg in the corner of the coop every time. The other (Cheryl!!!) escapes from the run and lays her egg under the snowmobiles! I've had to extend my wire to over 15' to keep her inside. She seems to lay her egg under the ramp to the coop.

Any hints/tips/trick to teach these two to use the nesting boxes?

Thanks,

Dave
