I have used Forest Farm before and love the fact you can find some of the ones you have been searching forever for.
(edited to add) I only by own root roses because of our climate.

Which is why I go to Heirloom, although I am at the end of getting heritage roses from them and will probably need to order from the place in (Davis? Sebastapol? can't remember, have it bookmarked but my bookmarks need sorted, oh, dear) to replace a couple of roses I've lost to last years nasty surprise at the end of February.

Speaking of rose places, one I neglected to mention is the Antique Rose Farm on Springhetti road in Snohomish: nice people, great roses and perennials. And too far away for me to go on a whim.

So far over 17 roses for Heirloom, Go down that way to visit our oldest daughter, somehow It always is at sale time

That is a fair price for one that just started or hasn't started laying yet. $15.00 is the limit for me. I won't pay over that for one. I see people on criagslist asking $20 & $25 per bird. thats TOO much. but $15.00 is fair.
Two weeks ago I bought two six month old (not laying yet) speckled Sussex for $5.00 each

now that was a deal

I agree with Ron, but then I am rather frugal and really enjoy watching chicks grow in the brooder.

I love my SS and now that my DH has been working on their run daily He does too they "help" him all day long, he gets a big kick out of it.

OK, so I just talked to the vet. Abby had one enzyme that was elevated in her blood work. Unfortunately it had a really long name that I didn't catch. He said it's supposed to fall in the 20-150 range and her's was 2067. Everything else in her blood looked good. He said this enzyme is usually off if there are liver problems, gall bladder issues, thyroid issues or a tumor. He also said Cushings Disease will raise the level of that enzyme, but said she didn't think she had that. So he suggested x-rays of the abodomen region as a next step to look for tumors.

Ron, the drinking so much water is fairly new. It's been building up over the last few weeks. We moved her downstairs out of our bedroom at night because she was waking us up multiple times a night to go out and we just thought that's part of her getting older, can't hold it as long, etc. and we didn't want her to start having accidents upstairs on the carpet so we've been putting her in the mudroom at night with a gate up. Well, over time, it started to become apparant that she was not getting up to go out to pee, but to drink water. And she'll drink a whole big bowl and then want more. So we started watching how much she drank and it just seems like way more than she should need. She's coming up on 12 1/2 yrs.

Here's a pic:

I have acres of trillium, sporting purple flowers last summer, and seed pods now, if anyone is interested, I will harvest the pods.........

I have trillium and deer tongue (white avalanche lily) up on the hill. Trillium's a lot more determined to keep growing than people tend to think and deer tongue re-establishes from adjacent areas pretty readily, and both of them have bulbs way lower than fed pigs dig.

I need to make time to come get some...

I just wish they had more Heritage roses, they're the ones I like best, and I can still grow more of them.

Super cute - Love those big eyes and beautiful smile! My niece looked a lot like that and now she's in HS, still has those big, beautiful eyes, and the boys are knocking down the door! ..... homeschool her.

I can't believe I didn't want a girl, I wanted another boy. Now I am glad she is a girl.
