good question !

he was a semi feral chicken that just adopted us, guess he thought our yard was "good pickings" -- so I don't know the ancestry

the family "over the back fence" used to raise game cocks, though they moved several years before he showed up; I always figured he might have been a stray offspring

however there are roosters similar to that, ALL OVER Maui ... and Kauai ... and some on Oahu

on Maui we have a half-acre lot, with a good many trees (macadamia, mango, mulberry, orange, tangelo, tangerine, avocado, kukui, grapefruit, papaya, banana, Cook Island pine, and plumeria)

they drop a lot of leaves, great places for bugs to hide ... we have more trees than most anyone else in the neighborhood; and our cottage tenant is a great gardener who has turned the back half of the property into a tropical rain forest (she spent many years living in Hana) ... so it's free range heaven for chickens

based on his offspring with the three semi-bantam hens who hatched eggs under piles of branches, I'd say he was carrying more than just Game .. he looks a great deal like a Brown Leghorn rooster as well --- half the chicks were fluffy yellow, half were brown barred with black ... NONE of them survived to adulthood ... some taken by feral cats, some shot by tenant's son because he didn't like the chickens roosting in the trees and leaving poo on his car

we adopted some chicks before we left last spring, the cottage tenant was going to care for them on our behalf, and we haven't heard anything about it since; there have been other things going on that were higher priority, in terms of communications ... I guess we will find out when we return, sometime after Christmas

This is a Sheryl Butler pullet, and after a few days I must say she is an angel, very quiet, keeps herself occupied, and sleeps like a baby..and I have washed her poopy feets, days ago after bringing her home.
She has been in my only empty brooder on shavings and has been so clean!
She is so super clean!
I fear to put her outside as per the clay mud I have here she will have dingle balls in no time.
The problem arises that I have chicks pipping that will need the brooder.
I already have the lonely chick in the cabin driving me nuts (this is a small place!)
All the chicks need the brooder.
I will try putting them in with the Silky & watching to make sure she does not harm them.
I do not know how she will react...she may be fine with some 'friends'...but need to sell her, I bought her for $25, which I think is a bargain!

So he's a Gamecock or Game cross then

Hawaii shares feral chickens similar to games the same that Florida and much of the Tropics and Sub-Tropics from India to the Phillipines does, - And they're all either pure game or game crosses. In fact Hawaii has quite a few Game breeders.

Okay now I want to know about the points. Where would look to see if I have any warnings, or points?

I have gotten much better about staying out of trouble these days. But still inquiring minds want to know.

Illia, how about some very meaty extra large Cayugas..$100 a trio, I can maybe get pickup for you, they are in Citrus Heights at Rosecomb Ryan's in NorCal who we gave 8 Emus to.
He agreed to send me eggs, but has trios to sell right now, famous for being so large.

I love your new avatar, Illia! I liked your old one too - but this one is really striking!

I was just about to post the same thing - Quite a selection of color! I need a really blue egger and some Olive eggers. My Barred rock, the only one of the new gals laying, has pretty pink eggs.
