Check at places like Home Depot etc. They have devices that you can plug in and then plug heat tape, heat lamp etc into. When temp drops to 35 they come on and then when it warms to a point I dont know it goes off. or like I do I just set things on timers (cause I have lots of timers).

Another over-wintering gardening question for our experts:
A neighbor gave me a fancy fern - quite delicate - which does well in her garden.
I planted it about 2 weeks ago.
Checked it again today and it looks like it's heaving out of the ground and not doing well at all.
Should I pot it up and baby it in the garage over winter?

On another note, two of you write aoubt the Lyda rose now and then.
That's a lovely rose. I might look for one next spring and see how it does in dappled shade.
