Well, bumble and I did a "photo shoot" so that I could post his picture on the Serama BYC and after that fact he was very-very tired baby. He is right now sleeping in his favorite spot, on my chest behind my robe:

The blue is my shirt and the pink is my robe. Bumble does really like snuggling me. This is just how Seramas are. I need to put him back in the brooder soon...I don't think that DH would like me to bring Bumble to bed with me.

Me too. And after they spend the day in the coop and showed me how they can go up and down the ramp. At dusk, all five were sleeping at the end of the ramp outside. Didn't want to leave them since it got so cold last night. The funny thing, all five were up in the coop when I was checking on them around 5.

One thing I have found to help is if I leave a light on in the coop. Then as it gets dark they will go to the light. Then I go turn the light off after dark. I have had good luck and found only have to do this a couple nights.

I don't have any electricity to the coop. The days of leaving my window open to accommodate an extension cord are OVER!

I've read a few other threads on this now...people suggest feeding them or offering sunflower seeds in the coop.

When day light comes we can shoot.
At 10 we stopped sitting, walked out & went to Willapa Harbour Hospital to my mammogram, then after, went right back to hunting.
We ahev until the 31st, so we will be gone until we get him.
Goodbye all...............one exhausted Chickie.
Chicks hatching, people stopping & wanting both layers and meat chicks.
And::

Every thing is planted, all cold weather vegies:
Samish spinach (savoy) and brussels sprouts, Danish Ball cabbage, beets (cylindracil) and flashy trout's back lettuce (cabbage lettuce)
These heirlooms should feed us, even in snow.

I also have alot of venison to cure & dehydrate for jerky.............

don't know if it's COOL, but I clap my hands or bang sticks together quickly three times, then say INTO THE COOP! , and make shooing motions with my hands

sometimes if they seem reluctant, I "guide" them with a three foot long piece of PVC .. use it kind of like a balancing stick that high wire artists use, hold it in the middle, then rotate one end forward then the other, they seem to understand "being herded"

but they seem to have learned that the three claps mean "get moving"

X2 .. if the timing were different I might have been down to help too, but Priority One here, was getting DS to court, then arranging for the electronic home monitoring

YES he is HOME NOW, grilled steaks for us all, as a celebration dinner
