So - being relatively new to chickens - I figured out BLRW as Blue Laced Red Wyandotte - but what is WCBP? White Crested Bantum P...olish? Or am I totally off?

Depending on the variety of fern, most of them don't look like much at this time of year. I have rabbits foot fern that will need to come in for parts of the winter. I don't think it can handle freezing weather. But I know that it doesn't like to be inside. The fern suffers when it's living in here with us. We moved a sword fern earlier this year in the garden, and it looked great for most of the summer, but right now it looks half dead. I know it will be fine next spring.

If your fern is heaving out of the ground after just 2 weeks, I would wonder about how high the ground water is.

Some ferns are deciduous, too- my Maidenhair and Japanese Painted Ferns look... imperfect right now, but they've been in the same place on the north side of the house for, wow, ten years now; I had to move the Maidenhair into an 18" dish last spring. This is how it looked in May:

This sounds like a communist plot by the Chinese, to rob us of our little bit of remaining sanity. It's a shame that you can't return it for a refund a year later, with a note that tells the company to fire the engineer.

No, that would be the stupid clothes-pins which do not open up far enough to be used for towels or jeans, let alone for hanging up towels with overlapping corners, let alone strong enough to hold clothing on the line in the wind.

I had a bunch of clothes-pins I bought at a garage sale, that were strong enough to use two-at-a-time for wool blankets. I should have kept the springs when the wood wore out and learned to make new wooden bits.

Oh yeah I have big issues with clothes pins. I like the big ones. I finally put one in my purse so that I can compare the next time. I have bought so many clothes pins that looked like the big ones, but after bring them home to only learn that they were wimpy. Most clothes pins are only good enough to hang socks with. I think I found the ones I am looking for on Amazon. I'm going to wait until spring to buy them. I am really praying that they are the better ones like I used to have.

I got the new window in the coop just before dark. I had to go back out to the hardware store for longer screws.

But the glass is clean and at least twice as thick than it was before. This is the third piece of glass in the window. We made the window 16" by 20" so that a standard picture frame glass would work in the frame. It's a good thing it is easy to replace. It's been my fault that the first two panes have been broken.

One of my ferns is on top of the coop to the left. SF your fern is gorgeous.

I was running out the door this morning when I checked out the chickens and found the eggs.

When I got back home just now, I found two more, one larger one(in the middle), and one that does not have much of a shell (in front).

They are finally laying.
