That sounds like a solomen Island Eclectus! Thats the breed of bird that half blinded me in my right eye! Gorgeous smart birds!

Okay, gonna change my avatar - why did VF ask us to do this? I missed that one.

Anyway....I have 2 photos...help me choose. Both are of my dd:

First one is her big win at the Fair in Fitting and showing. When the judge placed the giant purple ribbon next to her...she looked at it like..."what the H*** is that for"? I got the photo to prove it. Took me explaining to her what it all meant. I was crying my eyes out of course.

Second photo is the babies...lavendar orps and the 1 serama.

Help me out, which one?

We only have two acres... would that still qualify as a "farm"? If so, how do I go about acquiring this status to buy wholesale? Hhhmmmmm Seriously, I'm completely ignorant in this dept!

I have at least 40 hens and 3 roosters. There are a handful of older 1-2yr old gals, but most are spring 2011 chicks with some early fall 2011 chicks. No other true "farm" critters - at least not yet.

I'm game for lowering my feed bill if possible as long as I can keep feeding the flock the way I want - organically! Right now, they only go through one 50/lb bag per month for the flock, but I know I'm gearing up to have to spend more due to the oncoming winter weather.

No that was Mickey our Cockatiel. Got him and Buddy at the same time and I hand fed both from an eye dropper. They didn't even have feathers yet. Sadly he will be the last one for me. It is just too hard to take them on the road and too hard when they have to leave us. If that had been buddy he wouldhavebeen in the booth with me. He went everywhere even rode on the tractor with me. No tether or clipped wings.
Sounds like Eclectus.
