Woot!! Up in Sultan with my peeps v2.0. Hope the weather gets nicer soon cuz these little feather-butts are outgrowin' their Rubbermaid tote!! lol 6 of em are too many for that little box..... Anyone have any legit details on pest control.... ahem.... like Raccoons? I contacted the Sherriff and they told me to to call the wildlife folks....

I refuse to waste my time baiting and trapping. I prefer more direct methods if any.... preferably there will be no issues!!

I do believe that most chicken folk favor the SSS method (shoot, shovel, shut up) particularly for dogs, but I don't see why you couldn't apply it to 'coons.
Do a Ctrl-F on Raccoon

It has older dates, but it also says PERMANENT Rules.

So the only other thing to worry about is:

Sultan Municipal Code states:

"9.34.010 Discharge of firearms prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person to aim or discharge any firearm, whether loaded or not at any person or property of another in the city of Sultan; provided, that this prohibition does not apply to the discharge of firearms by law enforcement officers engaged in the performance of their official powers or duties.

A firearm shall include a gun, pistol, revolver or other firearm. This section shall not abridge the right of the individual guaranteed by Article I, section 24 of the State Constitution to bear arms in defense of self or others or the rights guaranteed under RCW. (Ord. 588 § 1, 1993)"

Code does not clearly say you're prohibited from discharging a firearm at pests on your own property Check to be sure there isn't a more current code, this one said it was current through August 2009.

So if this is the way you're thinking of, um, dispatching them, you're probably safe.. If WA state law allows you to shoot a dog harassing your livestock, I don't see why you can't do the same to a raccoon. But I'm not a lawyer either

The sherriff representative stated that it needed to be in direct defense, which is the only way I'll be interacting in that way in the first place. Thanks for the help. I DID just bury the Peeps V1.0 after my son let the dog into the room with the brooder, so I don't want to get a third set!!!!

To Boost Junkie
DH says "live trap, dispatch and shut-up". He is only stating it that way because of the lawyers.
If you need ideas on dispatch, PM me and I can name more than a few ideas. I have been collecting these ideas over the years.

Oh, yea, definitely. I don't know for sure if she's going to use a cardboard box, I just wouldn't put it past her, lol. She should have enough rubbermaid containers around her house to use, but if I show up on Saturday and they're in a box, I'll be making a quick trip to the store for sure, haha.

I had that problem too last year with my dogs. Now? Well, lets just say I went alpha dog on them. They haven't looked at my chicks this year. Although they were showing a little too much interest in the quail babies.

I thought I heard on the radio that the Monroe women threw her dog and cat out the window and then jump herself. She suffered some broken bones and her 31 year old son was pretty bad off from trying to put the fire out.

I am new on the forum, but I have heard it many ways. We rinse with cold water, especially if there is anything stuck to it, but nothing further. We have been doing this since I was 5 years old, no ailments yet!
