While this may be. That kind of attitude displayed to new people will just drive them away. And then it will all fall apart when the "old timers" are gone. Or when the new people get it going again it will be very different from the original.

I know,.. but I can't change him. I was just giving a little background. Although he's rough around the edges, and comes off this way especially over the internet (which I often do too), I am certain he didn't mean it personally.

I hope you still come. I hope you also enter a bird in the show. I'll be coming over the mountains and hope to see you there.

beautiful!
really nice photo!

Thanks! Notice the dog looking at me? That's Riley. He's always freezing and loves to lay right on the heater vent when it is on.
Silly pup was begging me to let him back in the house!

Price????????????????????????????????????? It is exquisite!!!!!!!!!! Does it work?
And a full size pic would be great!!!!!!!!!

And WHERE did you find it???

The works are there, but it freezes up after a few seconds. It probably needs cleaning. It's been hanging in the antique mall in Fife for three years. Mr. H thinks it may be by the same carver as another clock we have. The dealer wanted $500 for it. Mr. H offered her $200. She countered with $300. I suggested $250. She countered with $265. We accepted. I learned to bargain in Korea. it comes in handy in antique malls.

SCORE!!!!!!!!!!

No, it's a 49 IHC dump truck, and is part of My Cousin The Biker's rusting collection (although it was Dad's before that, and Archie Ferguson's originally).

(I learned to drive on that monster, and that may be part of the reason I've never had a driver's license).

I'm going to edit in a better photo, wait a sec.

Very cool looking truck

That is what we call a Corn Binder Truck!

And now you know why I am not a part of the "Brian Decker fan club".... I'm sorry he responded to you the way he did...

He can be blunt, but he's also in his seventies (I believe) and remembers the stringmen of exhibition poultry and has been in it his entire life. He just has his opinions and isn't afraid to say them- but I have always found that when he and I have disagreed he has not held it against me (and oh, he and I have disagreed quite a bit- esp on the win I had with a blue silkie at the APA semiannual/silkie national due to 'lacing' on silkied birds).

I have a lot of respect for him, and I listen to what he says, but I don't always agree. Brian puts his heart and soul into poultry- into the national breed clubs and organizations he belongs to and especially into the local clubs. When club officers have fallen short or not stepped up to the plate it seems like he has been there willing to help. He's trying to preserve the hobby as he sees it.

Well he returned my e-mail as well.
I before hand (2 weeks ago) asked terra about a turkey sized cage in which to display only, 4-5 Icelandics with a poster describing the breed so folks could see them.
She replied that she should ask Mr Decker.
She never got back to me, as am I am now counting how many crates I have, I e-mailed Decker myself & asked.
I told him I have my own table, just wanted to know $ of a turkey sized cage & if I could "display only" the birds such as some did at Stevenson with "psters" on Capons (you remember the Capon display there?)
He relied that IF I were to bring said birds that they would be entered in as show birds since it is an APA/ABA sanction show.
But, I was certainly welcome to enter them.
??????????????????????????????????????????
Well, I have already sent in my show form, and if I bring the Icees to "display" (as an educational display mind you) I will have to pay the $3 entry fee per bird, and adjust $ for the larger cage, and set them in the appropriate line of cages for the show, rather than set my table & display over by Cloverleaf Farms with HER educational display she has for the Favs...............so what the heck????
Icelandics are NOT in the SOP or APA and yet he wants me to enter them????????????
Crap.
I do not get it, not many would see them..and how can you judge a pen of 6 Icelandics...all running about in one pen, especially when they are not in the SOP..and frankly, I doubt if they ever will be since each one is very different than the other, no standard could ever be set for what they SHOULD look like...

Great job on bargaining. It's a great skill to have. Most of the time I will ask for a discount if I think I have a chance. I have had a few clerks get nasty, but for the most part, I can get some sort of discount. I did it a Home Depot, for some insulation. There were 2 sheets of the stiff foam insulation sheets that had damaged sides. I asked if they would discount them for me. They did, and both me and the girls are happy.

The works are supposed to be cleaned yearly. I learned that about 8 years after we bought our clock. It isn't cheap to have the clocks clean professionally. The cuckoo clock that I bought in 1982, when I was in Austria. The clock now needs a whole new clock works. DH can replace it for me, as soon as I buy the works. It just hasn't been a priority so far.

You can't beat a modern clock for time keeping. I have those, too. It's not important to me that the old ones keep time.

About 2 weeks ago the earthquakes in Oklahoma were felt here. A lot of the peeps on the Kansas thread were talking about it, my oldest son was the only one to felt it but did not know what it was. I would still rather be in a earthquake instead of a tornado.

Glad that everyone is OK. I do remember my first quake, We live in Redwood Valley Ca. it was 1977 and I was in 6th grade in Mr. Bliss's science class of all places. I was one Scared little boy and hated earthquake until I saw the damage from a very small tornado that hit west Topeka in 89.

I am walking purty darn good with no crutches...still very swollen & can even walk with no brace but the knee is so wobbly I choose to not push it in a test.
I am getting OUT of the house today..going to get feed (really running low with my injury) and Walmart (YIPPEE!!)
IF I can find a little scooter there that hasnot been taken by all the grossly obese folks (and none left to the truley handicapped) then I will ride one (YIPPEE!!!!)
Other than that, I am bringing my wheel chair.
We are OUT of so much stuff from catsup to toilet paper, shampoo to dish det....probably be a $200 + day at Walmart, another $200 day at the feed stores.
DH is getting the studs on now....YIPPEE!
I am excited to get to justifiably ride a handicapped scooter at Walmart!!!!!

So sad when your 'BIG' day is shopping at Walmart...I haven't gotten out much lately~~~~~~~

I'm glad you've had some good experiences with him Jen, I just haven't, and it's been consistent. To each their own opinions...
