Sorry I've not been popping in as much.
I took on more work than I had planned and am still figuring out the physics of squeezing more hours into the day.

So far

not working.

I also had to spend the last few weekends building a bigger pen and enclousure for my 10 ducks.
I forgot the duck housing was designed for 6 ducks.

Can't figure out which 4 ducks had to go.

I got 7 laying ducks and 3 different coloured boys. 7+3=10??
Seems like more. They are killing my backyard.
Is there going to be a christmas gathering???

Do you place hives at other locations besides your house?

NO I don't currently just because I don't have that many and have plenty of room at home. Why you ask.

I need some bees but don't have time for another project. Maybe look into Mason Bees.

Well, hired hand or not I need to move Bacchus' pen today; I've only got one more day that I can tether him in the orchard and not keep an eye on him, because the cows will be coming back tomorrow.

Life is rich and full and I would rather like it to be January now, thanks. The next week is going to be a push, to say the least, since on top of the whole Christmas thing my daughter is moving out. She and her father share a gene which makes any cleaning project they're involved in result in a halo of chaos around each clean bit. There's small windows of empty shelves already, however, notably on the dvd shelves, so I'm hoping, eventually, to end up with enough room to put everything away, maybe even enough bookshelves.

Of course then my DH will immediately go out and find another old set of encyclopedias or something.

I was hoping that the hired hand would be able to do the extreme-leaning-over bits of the Hamburg extension today, but I will, instead, think seriously about means of blocking the beam up a few inches instead. Wonder what happened to my old set of hydraulic jacks? Somebody probably thought they needed them for something and took them out of the milk house.

Yes IF you want bees for pollenation Mason bees do a lot more work than Honey bees and are less work. However Mason bees DO NOT produce Honey.
Keep in mind that Honey bees really don't take a lot of time. Maybe 15-30 minutes per hive about every couple months. Then in the fall it is tha time it takes to pull and spin out honey. NO where near as time consuming as say horses, pigs, chickens or a garden.

COOL!
Don't ask this old lady anything about it or to text...I still want a princess sized cell that I can hold on my shoulder & talk while I work.
DH says get a head set or an ear-clip hands free device.........NO WAY!!!!!!http://bestsmileys.com/angry2/11.gif

I want him to take the guts outta my cell, and stick them in a princess phone, & cut the princess cord off.
