Here is a pic of my new egg sign which still has yet to get a double coat of clear on both sides to fight this rain............

Waiting for a bit warmer weather in the shop to do the clear...if I do it in here I will have to breathe all the fumes..........

It is water based clear...but even still..............

As I mentioned sort of off-hand in a post last night, I don't spray anything anymore, unless you count squirting aphids and (explicative deleted) prunus leafhopper with a hose. I also am pretty random and imperfect about fertilizing. What I am serious about is pruning: cutting back once-blooming plants after they flower, soft pinching extra growth that crosses into the middle of the plant, but most of all whacking off to a logical branching point anything that grabs my head or arm immediately. Watering in hot weather is also important. Otherwise, if I'm still growing it, it's easy to keep and undemanding.

I have wondered about a BIG pot of boiling water and dunk them. I just don't know how much heat the plastic can take.
Again we just use sand blaster. But if ya don't have one that makes it hard.

Worked before...as I said, not boiling.
And I do not let them just sit in there.
Seems to me that sand blasting would rub out the little hexes....round them all off.

Nope SO FAR it is working very well with no complaints.

Sounds like an excellent idea to me....I HATE (and so does my Mother) bending over & twisting to try & get something WAAAAY in the back on either bottom or middle shelf !!!!!!
I have always said refriges need to be less in depth and wider, like a cabinet.
At more or less eye level.
Putting a fridge up on a shelf about 12 " would be tremendously helpful to me...thanks for the tip.
But awfully hard to lift up the darn thing !!
I have listened to my Mother complain for years, and wonder when Dyson will improve the refridge !!!

I also hate to have to get on hands & knees & clean the darn thing !!!!!!!

I agree with Mom, when it gets dirty, we will thrwo it out & buy a new one !!!!!!

Put a sign on it at the curb that says "FREE YOU HAUL YOU CLEAN WORKS GREAT"

Birds of prey are terrified of being ensnarled in nets & wire...if at all possible they avoid it.
Quite a few times we have seen folks run 50# monofilament back & forth over a fish pond or bird run to scare off birds.
We called it the "no fly zone" and it quite clear so did not make the yard look so weird.
Hope you find a way to safety!
Yesterday we saw 2 adult baldies & 2 juveniles circling....so it is a matter of time here as long as I let my birds free range.
The big eagles usually buzz the place & move on...I am sure they see the nets.
Only birds with no nets is my turkeys, and there is no eagle that can pick one of them up.
At first sight of any over head bird, ALL the roosters sound the alarm and ALL the birds hide.
Hope you figure out a way!!

stupid hawk, we have a lot of juvenile ones here and they do not bother the chickens in the summer, its winter and game is scarce for them so I am sure that is the only reason he thought it a good idea to have chicken dinner. I will get the big netting, like fishing net stuff, and hang over the top of the outdoor run. they also have an indoor run that has a door so they are all locked in there right now. there is a guy in startup that sells used fishing nets, he makes hammocks and all sorts of stuff out of them. hopefully they are not an arm and a leg. otherwise I found a place on the net that sells them. you should have heard the ruckus this morning. Larry was screaming and my two oldest hens were also calling out loudly, everyone was hitting the dirt and hiding when he flew off the fence. Larry may be little but he is mighty lol. just ticks me off is all...

Yeah, we're getting down to the point where all the wildlings are going to be hungry- and there's an outbreak of snowy owls, which are very noticible, but which also almost certainly means we'll be getting arctic population goshawks, which are sneaky and BIG, and maybe, close to the sound, gyrfalcons, which are like peregrines on steroids. Raccoons are getting hungry, too, since this was a short year for apples, and what game managers call "mast:" acorns, hazelnuts, and all tree seeds. I've been checking all my perimeter fences for digging marks twice a day the last couple of weeks, too.

What's got me worried is I have a stray cat, a BIG calico who acts fully feral. If all she does is take the rats (I found a nasty hairball the other day with rat sized toenails in it) I'll be thrilled, but female cats tend to go after birds more than males and that makes me worry about both the chickens and the chickadees.

Yes.
I took some to the last show too.
Got 12 eggs to pip on the 12th............and a herd of started in various ages from 3 weeks to 2 mo old.
Love them !
They are ALL friendly, not just that 1 hen.
