Last summer our neighbor's wife got lung cancer, smoking her entire life, and in a few weeks was gone
Poor old guy packed up a few carloads of stuff & left for a retirement community.
he was broke, and cared not about anything left behind in the 4 bedroom home, barn & a double wide rental, and a single wide rental on his property.
Since then, he has returned to gather a few more things & came today to say someone had stolen the lawn mower & weed wacker and anything else there we are free to have.
Dh has been over there 2 X scavenging ...I imagine the bank repo guy will be there soon to put locks on, gut it out & put it up for auction.
Before he does, I just may go nab the washer & dryer in 1 unit.
The old guy left ALL the pretty stuff, cut crystal & touch me nots..I got a few nice pieces.
So weird the way one's entire life just is strewn about the place: scrapbooks, records, memoribilia.......tokens from opreas & vacations.pictures & slides from all those years.
Sad.
Welcome ZoiChick!
I'm originally from California - grew up in the Bay Area, college at UC Davis, worked as a wildland firefighter out of the Georgetown Ranger District east of Auburn right in your neck of the woods, then worked for the Fish and Wildlife Service Migratory Bird Research Center in Dixon, CA, then got a job in pharmaceutical research in Palo Alto. I couldn't afford to rent a shared room there, so I moved to Seattle in 93 and bought a house a year later!
My brother is a CHP officer and covers Auburn and Grass Valley. I go out your way at least once per year.
I LOVE the snow photo - beautiful with the sun!

This might not help but DH had a total joint replacement. Recovery was 3 months, meaning he had recovered enough to be released back to work. Maybe a rotater cuff would take longer due to the tearing. With the joint replacement they just move everything out of the way.
I got bucked off a horse once, landing on my shoulder. I'm pretty sure I did something to the rotater cuff. I never did go to the doctor but it took about a year before I could use my shoulder full range. I still feel it. I think I'm getting arthritis in that shoulder now.
Does yer DH have full ROM oops Range Of Motion with the joint replacement ?
I came off a 2 yo thoroughbred in training, and fractured L2. I was paralyzed in my left leg for several days (wow, it was scary) then on my back in bed for 6 weeks. But, I was young then, and healed a lot faster than I do now. This might not help but DH had a total joint replacement. And while ya are all talkin bout food and yer dinners I may as throw this one out. Tonight I cooked a nice BIG Elk Round roast (Thanks to Broody) and spuds-n-gravy and my version of mixed veg. Just got done making a Washington Apple cake and it is in the oven right now. That will be tomorrows dessert. One of these days I will get brave and make this cake by the recipe. That would be minus all the extra goodies I tend to add. Like tonight I added a bunch of apple sauce (goes in most of what I bake for moisture) a couple good shots of my most recently harvested honey, some diced figs I had and of course a few extra apples.
Here's hoping I won't get in trouble for posting something off-topic .. .really just wanted to share.
