OK, the only pics I have of my last horse, Tig, were ones that the new owners sent me after I sold him. NICEST people!!!! I need to get an update on him, it's been a couple years...

So, this is Tig, THE most bomb-proof horse I've ever had (and only AQHA I've ever had), I bought him as a 3 year old, and only had him until he was 6. He's 10 this year in April...

(He's the one on the right in the first pic)...

Looking at these pics really makes me miss him a lot, but he has the best home I could ask for, and he's done wonders for their other horse. Selling him improved the life of two horses, that I can never regret....

Those are some beautifully romantic photos of your horse. It does look like Tig is well loved and cared for. I'm crazy about all the horse pics you guys are posting!

They are very nice and if I were able to do any breeding here I'd be picking those ladies up in a hurry. As it is I'm sorely tempted by them, but still want to hold out for my one blue English Orp girl. I am so taken by the lacing on the blues. One of these days... Hmm, maybe a splash AND a blue?...

Hard to think about Spring coming after this nasty bout of weather. But thinking about raising another batch of meaties this year (I only did it one time), how soon do you folks plan for putting them outside? Or, if I expect to put them out at four weeks or so, when should I have them arrive? Last year I got them late April / early May, and put them out early June. But I saw others in the area had them out earlier than I did. We had a late summer last year, how early is too early? I live in the Olympia area. What do you experts do? Thanks

Welcome to the addiction

Now that that is over...
To answer your Q, we strive to have our meaties outside while the weather is warmish...and are doing 2 sets this year, trying for 1 starting in April, and another in July.
That is 2 batches of 50 "Bar-b-cue Specials" from Murry McMurry...I was going to cross breed & raise & hatch the cross myself but a busted knee broke that off...that and the fact that there is no way I can feed the brood stock 12 mo of the year and hatch eggs to raise meaties for the $1.65 price MM had last year..............PLUS raise & feed them to butcher size.
So, much better to buy the meaty babes, let them free range on pasture & control their feed intake..and so on.
Nice to have you with us !

Clover girl..I must say that man is very nice looking as well as the hoss.............lucky gal !

I put my DH on a standardbred mare (my Dad's ) and she wipped him off under a tree & then turned around and came back through between the fence & tree & stomped his ankle..poor baby.
I had to ride my appy bareback down 2 blocks of asphalt (hard shod) to get to my parents house where his parents were visiting,, and then HIS Dad drove the new cadillaic into the pasture to rescue poor DH.......he still tells the story of how I tried to kill him with a horse...barn sour GIANT mare.
Wimp.

Welcome to the roost! Living about 2 hours north of you, we won't be looking at sending any outside until May probably. The other peeps will have better guidance for you.

Hi All;  I hope that everyone is recuperating from the storms this past week.  We had over 2 foot of snow up here and my birds stayed in their coop looking out the door as if to say "I am NOT stepping foot outside."  They were all very happy to see the Sun today.

I have 2 beautiful English orpington splash pullets that are just starting to lay.  I would like to sell them, if anyone is interested let me know.  They look a little rough cause of being a little wet, but they are healthy and happy birds.

those of you that like the english orps so much, these are two english pullets and should make some really nice blue babies.

you get the nicest lacing from the splash parents. black to splash gives you 100% blue offspring :)

I am sorely tempted by these ladies......I just don't have room at the moment! My Orp coop is already too small!!!! Need to work on DH to build me that shed I need for the larger birds this spring.....
