That is so nice of you to say! Of course I've always thought she was pretty, but might be a little biased... When you had mentioned that day that she reminded you of an angel from a Renaissance painting, this was the photo I had wanted to show you! We've always referred to it as her, "Mona Lisa Lily" photo but now that you mention it, it probably is more reminiscent of a Botticelli. I had just shot it with my camera phone one day while we were shopping at a mall in downtown Portland, but it's still one of my favorites...

Oh my, she is earthy and pure beauty...........a gorgous girl...........but I have more..........

Oh, hmm... it doesn't bother me, but, I was selling eggs and think it may have turned the buyer off!

Thanks for that, I guess, the only time I had noticed it was when the rooster was with the hens, so, I assumed it was from that??

Well, maybe when they see that in a store-bought egg, they'll come back for yours. I've seen it in store bought eggs a whole lot more than my own.

Hi Guys........

I was working really hard at trying to catch up on this thread. But it moves so fast.

We were some of the lucky ones and our power was only off for 24 hours. I felt really bad for the ones that didnt have power for several days. But our land phone and our internet was down for several days.

Thanks CR for checking up on us. The wind was really making our bell ring..... We can really tell when the wind is blowing.

The chicks are sure happy the snow is gone. They dont like that pretty white stuff. DH kept going out and knocking the snow off the cover over the pen. We used poultry wire. Then when it froze it sagged some but held up really good.

Im happy everybody made it thru this past couple of weeks. It has been very interesting.

Take care everybody.......

Hello, brand new here to Backyardchickens.com :) Had chickens growing up and now I am the proud mother of a 4 yo that has a strong interest in raising them. So of course, I'm ok with that! We have two, three day old Lavendar Orpingtons and are avidly researching the other breed we want to add to the brooder. On the list..... Barred Rock, BLRW, Jubilee Orp, Buff Orp and RIR. I also had an amazing little Silkie growing up so would love to add one to the bunch eventually :)

If any of you Washingtonians close-ish to Everett are hatching any of these soon, let me know!!! I'm just looking for quality friendly chicks that will be loved in the family :)

Little blood spots in the egg are called "egg meat" and are indeed from wee ruptured capillaries that happen when the hens' lay.
Happens wether there is a cock there or not.
Big egg farms high power candle & throw out all the eggs they see with "egg meat" spots.
They are harmless, and tasteless.
