I need to replace my barred rock that died this morning.

Tam, why does 1 baby have 1 dark stripe, and the rest are chipmunk........besides meaning the rest are a duckwing variety...is the one with dark back a splash ?

Well that is what we are going to have to wait for to find out!!! I am hoping, that the 4 darker chicks on the left are going to be black BLRW's, and the one on the right that is a little lighter in the body fluff, is a blue. If this is how they grow out, then it confirms for me that William, their daddy is Black. All 5 chicks are darker than the typcial splash that we have hatched A LOT of. For the longest time I thought my whole flock was splash, and we got mostly splash chicks. Than I hatched eggs form only one of my hens, and she threw some blue babies, so now I know that she is a very light blue. I put her, and her daughter, who is the exact same color as her mom, in with William. In some light, William looks dark blue, and in others, he looks black. So this is a test to help me know for sure!

You can see why one might think all of these birds are splash at first glance. But the hen just to the left of Wyatt with the purple saddle on, is Willow, the light blue one. And her daughter Whiley is just to her left and behind.

My compute is spazzing for connectivity and I am typing faster than the connection can keep up with...
get to the end of a sentence & hit enter and split a word in two that has not appeared on the screen yet
So I better bug off.............this problem is most definetly connectivity...along with just a bit more busy-ness on the new BYC...I cannot go page to page anymore, I cannot open a page nor get in to read messages...click on it & the computer cannot get anything through the cable........stutters & comes to a brain dead halt.

Funny, yesterday was fine, Saturday was killer, all day & dead by 8 PM.....today the screaming halt came at 3:15 PM and by now it is at a standstill......
Try holding just the period key down & watching it go 3 dots, stop for 5 seconds, go 4 dots, stop for 6 seconds, goes again for 10 dots & stops for 3 seconds.........sputtering.

OK the lower phot (above) took 4 seconds to post on my "tablet" and then I clicked one more photo which went spastically for over 96 minutes then aborted, so I clicked it again & after another 26 seconds, it finally appeared on the tablet, so then I hit "submit" and another 40 seconds went by (I went potty & came back) and finally it was posted
