A stool softener is just that, it softens the stool, it does not make you go.
It is not a bm stimulator.
If he just had intestinal surg, he no doubt had gobs of antibiotics, and that kills off the intetsinal flora, and will make him very constipated. Get probiotics into him when you can, whole yogurt with the bacteria in it, etc.
And do not let him eat too much.
My DH was in surg a while back, lots of antibiotics and when he came out of surg he was so hungry he ate 3/4 of a large combo pizza.
Boy was that the wrong thing to do...he could not go for a week, and almost had to take him back to the hosp for fecal impaction !
GEEEEEEZREEEE!!!
Not being able to go is horrid !

Fortunately, our pediatrician (whom I ADORE!) happened to walk in just as I melted down and he came to the rescue. Looked at the scrips and just reissued some right from his pad so my kid could get some relief. Then he scolded his staff member.

Hi,
Im back and hes home again. So I sure hope we have the pain under control. Im going to be sending them a few words next week with how I feel about some of the staff. I loved some and disliked some.
He should have never been let out yesterday when he was, but have to say his soon to be wife (July 10 wedding) told him he would be just fine.. She had a lot to learn. It was so hard seeing him like that.
Thank you for the info about Stevens maybe next time I'll talk him into going there..

I dont really drink but Im going to have a glass of wine No maybe two or what would the whole bottle do.. Id be out for a week.

seems my luck never changes!

I am getting really worried, out of all my chickens it is the one I got for my daughter that something is wrong with.She was doing fine until today, I went to give the morning feed and water and instead of pecking at my boots like normal she just puffed her feathers and sat in one spot, barely moving when I walked around. This afternoon I thought she was dead, she was laying on her side but when I went to pick her up she slowly got up. Right now I have her away from all my other chickens but she just seems to be getting worse. I got her last week from a farm & feed that has a since gone into lockdown due to an outbreak of Coccidia. I am wondering if she could have it. I had already had another sneezy hen so I started them on Duramycin-10 (tetracycline hydrochloride). All my other chickens perked back up except for this girl......wondering if I should be worried. or even if I should attempt something else to nurse her back to health?

Any help is appreciated.

update: sadly she passed away this evening

Okay, I have not had a chance to read a single post on this thread yet....but let me introduce myself. I am teresa..I live in Omak. Do you know where Omak is? We are half way between Spokane and Seattle, then you turn North and head for the Canadian border. We had the first Wal*Mart in the state (yes in the state), but it was later torn down and turned into a Super Walmart about 10 years later. I am new BYC and I absolutely love it. I accidentally came across it when a friend of mine facebooked about it. I have not really been facebook since.

IT is cold today and I had to go and buy a new heat lamp for the girls (12 BR) to keep them comfortable. They immediately started stretching out and getting tans and absorbing the heat. I promise to go and through read the posts from everyone else and see if there is anyone else by me....just glancing I saw a Spokanite.
