So I know not everyone likes Walmart but my youngest worked there at Thanksgiving time and Christmas time and they kept him. Well I'm so darn proud of him they want to make him into a supervisor or something like that. He was told yesterday that 25 of the upper people in the store thought it would be a good fit for him.. So now he has to take a test next week and we will see.
This is far better than the car wash he was working at last year, they would call the day he needed to work and say come it. That was crap...

Now we are looking for a cheap car for him to drive back and forth to work. Have to go in a few to pick him up...
Congrats to you both! Isn't it awesome when your kids receive the recognition they deserve?

Wow - I got way behind. Because I got no updates!!! Had to log on manually!!! Grrr...
Same - I have probably missed many pages because the subscription is not working.

As far as I can tell she is asilver penciled. I got a better shot of her last night, and I am going to post a What is this bird post in the main forum. The family I got them from purchased from Ideal Poultry, which carries silver penciled.Notice how they are 15 weeks and still have a heatlamp? Spoiled babies! They were still inside the ouse, in a brooder. I hope they like their new digs.

So cute! And your coop is so clean!

I know this does not fix BYC but I have always saved the last page of Washingtonians to my favorites page on my browser. So I just click on it next time I'm on and it takes me right to where I left off. Easy peasy.

I will have to start doing this, issue and not receiving PMs. Other than that I have not had any issues with the forum.

And I

the feature I just figured out....which is going through and reading - when you see something you want to reply to hit "multi" and then keep reading and when you see the last one you want to reply to hit "quote". Then you can reply to as much as you want and not lose your place! Nice feature!

It's a beautiful day outside - hope you're all enjoying it!

Okay, I am still 10 pages behind. I have a lot of chores to do, so I will slowly get caught up.

Welcome to all the NEWBIES....you just found the best spot on BYC.

My boys both took 1st at wrestling Districts yesterday, for their weight division. I am exhausted. I will be uploading some film footage later on FB if you are interested in seeing.

Very funny think with my orps. I have Quincy - how old is he again? 10 months I think...his new girl friends - Che' and Ellen - 8 months. then there are the 4 lav kids (4 months). Well the lavendars needed out of the house - if you remember I put them in a "hay" coop. Well the bales were getting mildewy and the lavendars health declined rapidly. I ended up taking 1/2 the Black Orp box (just for now) and put the Lavendars in it. I had some of that PVC "fencing" to divide the box. The lavendar side has a solid door and on warm days I took it off, leaned it against the front, with a sheet of PVC fencing over the opening - but it is only "attached" at the top, so I can access the inside. Well the DH put the "door" (does all this make sense) against the fence instead of against the opening - to keep the PVC fencing in place....and the lavendar babies pushed the fencing out of the way and got out into the big bad world. The black orps did very well with them...little pushing here and there...but no real problems. I have been separating them at night...each to their own side - but they can see one another through the fencing separating the two sides of the box. I have been letting them all loose for over a week now.....I think I may take down the separating fencing and let them mingle in and out as they wish. I will have to watch them closely as 2 of the lavendars are cockerels. Quincy is a sweetheart, but I am not sure how tolerable he will be as soon as it starts warming up. But by then I can separate the Lavendar cockerels into their own space.

Hi everyone! I've been on BYC for a few weeks now and somebody suggested I come check out the Washingtonians thread. Wow, a little overwhelming! You guys move fast on here! hehe
I just got my first chickens on Thursday! 25 from Ideal Poultry. They are on my back porch in a brooder and doing great so far! I'm so excited!
Do any of you have a set up where your chickens pay for themselves? If so how do you go about that? I'd really like this hobby not to break the bank lol As opposed to my horse hobby which eats all my money up.

I hope you all are having a great weekend! I'm looking forward to getting to know the people on here

For those of you like me who are no longer getting alerts (and falling further and further behind on this thread LOL), I stumbled across a thread that's addressing that:
Help - Stopped getting email subscription notifications - unsubscribing???
I hope the link works. Nifty Chicken is monitoring this and asked that anyone having this problem to please post when it started, what e-mail account you have (whether it's Yahoo!, Gmail, etc.) and what you've done to try to remedy it. It seems that AOL may have updated its security to automatically i.d. as spam anything with an embedded link in it coming from a non-individual e-mail address. One of the things suggested was to unsub and resub to your subscriptions to see if that helps. Some folks did that, got one update, and then nothing more. Others like me got nothing after going through and resubbing to everything.
Anyway, just wanted to let you all know. Let's see if I can get this all striaght:
CL - you're in the 'birdhouse' for passing so many folks by - but your present to yourself looks pretty cool!
Ogress - hope you didn't end up with that headache, and so sorry to see the photos of the family home - that's a heartache
Chubby Chicken - congrats on the babies - they're beautiful! And I envy you your clean coop!
Zgoatlady - congrats to your son! That's great news!
And to all of you posting suggestions on how to keep current, thanks a million!
I know there's more going on and I'm sure I missed entire pages

Going out to work on my chicken run now - hopefully I'll be able to get enough wire across the top to let them out to play today. It's hawk mating season and there are too many of them too close to my chickens (not to mention my rat terrier) for comfort...
