Cheryl, so sorry to here about the horse stuff!! And yea, what are people thinking?? I was watching tv this am, and ya know how the ASPCA always shows the advertisement with all the poor little dogs and cats?? OK, let me put this in perspective so people don't think I'm an #$%^&hle
I was a vet tech for 10yrs, ok, I've seen some crappy stuff, there are very stupid, unthinking and cruel people out there, I do have a jaded opinion for sure. BUT, there are thousands of children who go with out a decent meal in this country, and in this economy there are tons of displaced people who need our help! And yet the ASPCA shows these ads, with animals with "feeling", in other words, they put words on the animals that supposedly they are "thinking"!!! REALLY?? So, then people who don't have a clue about animal behavior feel sorry for them and send them money!!! Which reminds me of the sort of thing your neighbors are doing!! Now, do not mistake this post, that is a sad ad, and yes there are some nasty people, and yes I do feel sorry for those animals, and yes, I do think that we can bond with them and they sense our emotions and feelings, and are very good companions, but, it is hard for me to justify supporting animals vs hungry children, etc..... AND stupid people who think feeding the coyotes and raccoons is a good thing!! I think I would look up information on how much destruction these animals do to farming and copy it and leave on their door step!!!

On the other hand, I am sooo glad you are feeling well and the baby is doing well!!! Glad to hear from you and please keep us posted!!

oh I was going to add, imagine what your neighbor is paying for the turkeys she is feeding the coyotes!!! I'm sure that money could go to a much better and worthy cause!!

Ooh - yay! I fixed my subscription and just got an email notice when pettec63 posted!

Here's how I did it:

Went into My Account
Deleted all subscriptions (probably just needed to delete the Washingtonians one...)
Then re-subscribed to this thread.

And it worked! For the first time in several days!

I agree with you. I too would rather put my time and extra resources torwards helping people over critters. I do what I can on both parts, donate and volenteer at the humane society and our local food bank/resource center. There are LOTS of good people who are having a hard enough time just keeping a roof over their heads, and food on the table. I personally feel fortunate that my DH and I are breaking even.

I have about another month and a half of work left before I just can not do it anymore. lol And I know that once I am out of work for even the panned month, we will be financially strapped. Its a tough situation for everyone right now.

I dont think you are cold hearted or unfeeling at all. But there are some people out there who realy need to figure out their priorities before making a donation, or spending those tax returns.

On a happier note! My girls are happy! lol I let them out to range the property and man are they being vocal! Running around ALL over the place! And these two little bantams, wel they fly! And I dont mean the tipical 4 feet off the ground flight. They actualy get 15-20 feet in the air, and travle about 50 feet before hitting the ground running! lol they crack me up!

I think BYC fixed something, because I didn't do anything to my account and now all of a sudden I am getting notifications on my subcribed threads. It's about time! :)
