Hope all is well w/son, and did you try the acid reducer ?
Having you being so quiet has me worried that you/son are having yet more problems.

Getting rid of rabbit hutches...water bottles, feeders, and in a few weeks, stacking wire rabbit cages with pooh trays under each...
I finished pooh pits under 2 new roots in the old henhouse, and now need to make more nest boxes...we will have way way way more hens laying in each henhouse soon, so I will not be on line much, either.
E-mail me about the rabbit hutches if anyone is interested.

Great start on your incubator, my DH made me a cabinet incubator a few months back. I love it I also still have the LG that I started with for lock down. The one he made me has three shelfs. I'll have toget some pictures and let you see it. Its so fun to hatch but watch out you wont want to stop once you start..

Thank you for caring, my son is doing better but still in pain. Im going to have to call you sometime so we can talk about food and all of that. Id like to find some pizza that he can eat. He goes to the Dr on Fri so we will see what they say.

Ive been trying to catch up on my sleep from last week with him.

When I get stressed I get sick also so Im fighting off something now. Ive always been this way. Oh my back is so much better but my DH wont let me do anything now for fear I'll over do it. But if it doesnt rain I want to weed my walkway, cant stand what it looks like right now...

I found out yesteday that my husband needs surgery on his ear, he want to do it in two weeks, Im going to see if we can wait a few more weeks. He's waited three years to have it done I think he can wait a tald longer..

Better go have to get a few chicks and take them to a lady down the road.. If any one wants BCM I have lots of them from my last hatch's..

Would anyone be interested in trading a 1 year old hen, for a one year old hen?

The little hen I have is a Banty mix, she kinda looks like a delaware, but I have NO idea as to what she actually is... But she does lay an egg a day, cute little brown eggs. She's a great little bird, but for some reason I just really dont like her personality.

I'm looking to trade her straight across for any breed of hen besides Leghorn, Barred Rock, and White Wyandottes. I'm really not picky.

I will see if I can remember how to post a picture, and I will put one up later today.

Oh wait... Isnt it better to introduce two birds or more to the established flock at the same time?

Can we say "ADDICTED"? I just came home with 6 Rhode Island Red Pullets....and yes, they are no where near any of my other chickens......When will I learn enough is enough? I am completely out of control! Ok So I AM going to try out my bator once I get a new thermostat...I don't like the big temperature gap and I bought a digital that only had a 1 degree gap but I didn't make sure it was 120v capable and of course it wasn't lol.....what a day! I hope everyone else is doing well!

Interesting situation in my nursery coop. I had one momma and one broody. The broody's eggs are due this coming Friday. Well, the last few days, the momma has been complaining that she wants to be out of the nursery coop and into the big girl coop. She's also back to laying. She laid in the broody's nest several times. So... she's been ignoring her chicks and now the chicks have gone in with the broody. That broody totally abandoned her 4 eggs and adopted the older chicks! and only 3 days for their due date!

So... I went ahead and took out the first momma and put her back into the regular coop, let the momma stay with those adopted chicks and now have 4 eggs in the bator. I haven't ever used this incubator before... or any incubator for that matter. It was still sealed in the box yesterday and so I had to set it all up and everything from scratch. I don't have a hydrometer (Is that what it's called?) and just the one thermometer. The temp is steady on it now at 99.5, but I have no idea about the humidity. I also don't really know how long that momma was off the nest. For all I know, the eggs could be duds now anyway.

Wish me luck!

What kind of incubator is it? I have a LG and what I did at the end is make sure there is water in all the wells and than have a spong that is wet also. You could run to Walmart or Ace hardware and see if they have one. I just use the cheap ones and than test them with the salt solution. ( But last year I didnt check them and had good hatch's.
Does the incubator have a fan and also red plugs you want to make sure they are out.
Let me know. It'll be ok.
I had so BCM eggs at a friends house and she said come and get them my incubator is going. So I did and I have a good hatch and a bad one.. But its worth the try..

It's an LG, yes. I don't have a sponge in there, but I probably have a package of them under the sink with all the cleaning supplies. No fan, just the basic one. What do the red plugs do?

LaSombra
Ok since it doesnt have a fan I cant help at ALL
barnie.gif

What you need to do is remove the plugs they are so air can get to the chicks and they need that.
But you need to search out LG Dry incubator or incubating and see what it says. I think it needs to be hoter than the 99.5.
So Im no help at all.. Im so sorry.
I'll go and try to help you look.
