just got a call from a lady in Loomis named Raquel. anyone know her by chance? she wants the drakes for breeding and her sons to enter in the fair. which would be the perfect home for them.
one drake needs to go ASAP because i have him isolated... but i figure i can part with 2 healthy drakes as well and have 1 male to 1 female as a happier ratio.
just wanted to make sure no one has heard negative things about a person up there. i do try to make sure the pet animals go to the good homes.

Getting caught up. Internet connection was down yesterday and this morning. Just read every 4th page. lol! At least I got my desktop cleaned up a bit. It was so full, it was adding icons off screen.

Here's the poop page:

I think pretty soon your wife will either be making Chicken Pot Pies or she'll bring you a sleeping bag so you can stay in the coop with your chickens! I have 38, but unfortunately many are of the gender that are better in pies.

She tells me all the time to go sleep in the Barn with my chickens. I just smile at her and cluck like a chicken

Huh- I took a close look at the four younger EEs last night (my husband's been feeding and watering them because I'm spending a lot of time on cattle these days) and I think I have more pullets than I'd previously thought. This is a very good thing, although it doesn't actually reduce the need for building new coops.

I'm shot from just walking out into the middle of the field and getting cows up to check... well, most critically, to check that they can get up but also to check their stage of gestation/labor. Nobody looks too close to delivering, although when the storm front marches through in a couple of hours that could change fast: sudden drops in barometric pressure can trigger labor. Which says uncomfortable things about the kind of weather I spend the most time in.

Also the microwave died last night, and so I get to have cold lunch instead of leftovers. Pfui.

Wow, lots going on & I finally got caught up !

Guess I better e-mail Jules some links...sorry I been busy, this is shipping day so we had to finish packing & haul buns to the Post Office early.

Now I get to catch up on the paper work & the list of the next peoples wanting eggs...........hard work.
The hardest thing is talking to each buyer, each wants a different egg, and each has a real name & a BYC name that ya gotta keep straight !

Boggles the mind !

AND I am so tired of this floaty, heavy fog like rain !
It even gets under the eaves wet !
Pens are snot-slick.....chickens all wet.

It is a good day to be a duck.

just talked on the phone to Dad.
he said Lionel passed away sometime during the night and found him not waking up this morning.
He was the reason I joined this site because he was such a different looking bird. Because of him I have learned so much about chickens. I only have 1 bird left from my original flock 4 years ago.
He will be really missed.
Pidgin is doing well and bossy.
