Ogress. Once you get a couple years under your belt then go out on your own I want to give you a fantastic tax system that helps out the one preparing it and the one getting all the stuff ready for the preparer.
This is for business mostly.
Basically once you have done one year of taxes come December you send your client a booklet that shows all the deduction amounts they had last year and the person puts in the amount right next to it what it is this year.
This is a huge help to both people and especially you as you set up the booklet the same way you go thru your software so as you are going over the numbers you aren't going back and forth.

Once you are on your own and get to know your clients you need to pound it home that if they fill out the booklet your return going to cost less.
My tax accountant is by the book big time which I like cause if the IRS ever audits me everything is good to go.
Because I fill out the booklet she charges me $50.00 less.
I pay $250 for two business and our personal which from what other contractors are getting charged it is huge savings.
Yet, I don't come into her office with a box of receipts. LOL!

Anyways if you decide to go on your own some day let me know and I'll show you my booklet and you can alter it to what works best for you.

I see Nova had to come see where the better looking of the 2 Salmon Fav Roosters hangs out!

ReiMiraa - I am so sorry for all that you are going through. Although I don't know you, I want to add that I'm thrilled to see young people like you choosing such important career paths. This world needs more like you! May your studies go well today!

ChickenRustler - I've been looking for an umbrella trellis and not having any luck. It then occurred to me - perhaps you could make something like this. Yes? I know custom work is always more. About how much would this cost? (Feel free to PM your response, if you prefer.)
Here's an example that I found at "the cottage garden at 5 Casanova" online. Of course, I would look for a chicken to put on top!
(Note to cottage garden lovers - check out the site, many more lovely photos.)

I have it nearly made. Just need to know if you have any size requirements / limits!

One thing with Autism is that autistic kids take almost everything literally and pretty much don't lie and don't deviate from the rules. I don't know if it is that or if he is just a good kid. When he was a lot younger he once got into DH's movie collection and had all the disks on the floor out of their cases. I told him he better get them back into their proper cases or Dad would have a cow when he got home. We were putting them away when we heard the garage door open. Alex tore off down the stairs. I asked him where he was going because we were not done yet "I'm off to see the cow that dad has with him!" I still laugh when I think of that.
That is soooo funny is so many ways!
My son is 20, autistic and dev.delayed, and just a handsome big dude. Especially when he was younger I would panic when people/family would say the most "awful" things, like, just at bedtime "Don't let the bedbugs/boogyman get you!" and that sort of teasing -- not. Try to get them to sleep with that in their busy little heads.
Recently, we were watching Am. Idol auditions and one of the young ladies was a special needs teaching assistant. She was talking about her job and how she really like working with her kids with Down's and autism, etc. Robert get's all excited later on as they were picking you would go thru and he ramarks that he really wanted to vote for her 'cause "I have a chance to have (date) her. She's beautiful AND she likes people with Autism!" I guess you kinda had to be there but the glee on his face was very special.

Thank you, that sounds good!

I did sign a non-compete, but I doubt it is anything they cold hold me to if they don't pay for my classes and I go out on my own to take the EA exam. For now I like working in the office; my co-workers are great. Many of them are retired and are doing this for a little extra income. There are services that our office does not offer - their policy is to direct those clients to their Premium offices. I, for one, would not drive that far so instead I took a business partnership I once had to a local CPA. Ideally, I would like to handle more complex returns on a drop-off basis so that I could earn a little more and still have time in the afternoons/evening for my family.

I'm so grateful that today was not the day Alex was waiting by the library - The winds are ripping through here, the rain is heavy and driving, and the normally calm creek at the base of our hill is raging over the roadway again, and I am afraid it will take it out again.

Sad day today. Just got back from the vet with Abby. She woke up today with one of her front leg knees/elbows? really swollen and I forget what they called it, something with an H, fluid on the joint, can't drain it. Prednisone or Surgery were the only options and he advised neither at this time. While examining her, said he didn't like the sound of her breathing, he could tell she had limited lung capacity and suspected lung cancer. The x-rays confirmed. She came home with me because she still has a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye, but he said it would be soon. He guestimated a month if we are lucky, probably much less.

It is a good day to crawl under the covers and hide away for awhile.....................
