ok, no seriously, it should be set up much like you would see at a fair, rows of tables with different breeds of poultry, waterfowl ect. booths with information on breeds ect, some vendors selling assorted poultry related items, it's a lot of fun! Hope you can make it!!

This is only part of the auditorium.

It is also said that we can get serious sun burns during massive solar flares like this.....so no sun bathing today !!!!!!!!!

BUT DO go out tonight & watch the northern lights, hopefully we will not have clouds.

What a beautiful Chick!  Curious about the wood pellets you have her on, have you put the little ones on that bedding before?  It really makes a fine sawdust and I think I lost a couple chicks when I tried it.  I think they were eating the sawdust and everytime I saw them they had full craws and I didnt think much of it until my dd brought one to me that she felt wasnt well and it weighed next to nothing.  Not sure that was the reason why but if you have had good luck with the pellets maybe thats not why I lost my 2 chicks.   They were older tho, buckeyes.

I've had a few batches on wood pellets... I want to try alfalfa pellets to see if it does the same thing with keeping them dry and stink free.
So far I've not had any issues... I do put a towel down for the first 2 days where they learn about food and water before access to pellets.
If alfalfa pellets do the same I think that would be better since they can eat it as food too.
I'll be trying that with a batch or two as well soon.

I track the feed levels and make sure it is getting eaten (not dumped) as well as check the fluffies for weight/feel everyday.

One thing tho it sure keeps the stink down!

The one thing I have to warn you about alfalfa pellets is that they get slippery and sticky when wet, and stain eggshells on contact. Other than that, they're great odor-control and dry bedding, but don't use them where they can get wet!

I can haz jeans! I got into a nearly-forgotten drawer where I'd stashed a bunch of jeans which got too small the spring/summer I was kept out of the garden by a burned foot, and the second pair I tried on fit.

Nice side effect of raising chickens, eh? Not to mention an end to fretting that my entertainment budget was going to be eaten by shopping for work clothing.

Off to the chicken coop building zone!
