Hello to fellow chicken loving Seattle-ites.  I have a question.  I have an order coming in from My Pet Chicken tomorrow sometime (Thursday the 15th), arriving in at the Post Office servicing the 98144 zip code (Leschi) and I am not able to be there to pick them up when they arrive.  I don't want them to sit there any longer then they have to, as they've had a hard three day trip already.  Is there anyone who lives close by and has a brooder set up already who would be able to pick them up for me and hold them until 4 or 5 pm.

I would be more than happy to compensate for the trouble!  Thank you!!

post office wont let anyone but the person its addressed to pick it up.... mine requires ID when picking up packages including live birds

That is kind of funny. I got a call at about 7 AM today that my, "uh, eggs were in" and would I like them delivered or did I want to come pick them up? I told them I would be there in about and hour. When I got there I just said I was there to pick up my eggs and they just asked if that was me and my address on the box. I said yes and they handed them over.

Smallish town I guess. They were super nice though and asked me chicken questions. Must have figured I was the real owner!

BTW - I saw someone had shrimp on the menu.

Is that for Monroe? If so could you put a big label on that?

I love shrimp but it will literally kill me, allergic.

If it is not for Monroe just ignore the crazy allergic lady and enjoy!!!

I will try to put allergy type ingredients on my food too as I am using almost all 100% wheat flour as I'm allergic to barley as well. Sorry gluten free peeps! Will repost this with the food listing stuff.

The one time I had chicks delivered, my mail carrier insisted on delivering them because she wanted to see them. She made a special stop at the beginning of her run.

small town probably, I am in monroe and had to prove with ID and my address on my ID was different so they had to go get my mail man and ask him if I lived at the address for real. Seattle PO may or may not follow the rules, but these days, with all the mail theft dont be shocked if they require ID

Should I try and move my broody to a dog kennel that would take up ALL my storage space in the coop or leave her be? I have yet to move any of my broodys to a separate area so I don't even know how to do it. She been sitting for 2 days.

It's come to my attention that there is no way, that I can possibly mop the floors faster than one Jet, and 6 nasty little dogs can mess it up.

There may have been a reason that Jet was living in Nevada. Someplace warm and dry sounds very good right now. One the other hand then I would be battling un-limited sand.

I entered 3 LF pullets. black orpington

The email address on the entry form.

Thank you for the advice on the post office pick-up of my chicks. I kind of wondered about that, but thought it was worth asking. Thank heavens, my boss relented and is going to allow me to drive over myself and get them.
