It is sunny & gorgeous here !


Almost too good to be true !

I am taking "it" easy today...going over which seeds need to be planted this round...tomatoes are up 3" or so...peas are up....no sign of the peppers yet

may have to replant them.


Wished I woulda seen RRF at the show !!!!!!!! Darn it

(again) Outside of that, we are all doing good here & talk to ya'll later !

after I recorded "the hanging tree" for Pettec63, "How the West Was Won" came on so I had to record that too, and it went on long after we went to bed at 11 PM.............

AHHH!!! Chicken math strikes again! lol My numbers are about to jum from 7 hens to 17!!! Good thing I have a 12 year old brother whos cleaning and collecting eggs for me! lol I might actually be able to start selling eggs to my neighbors again!

Those of us who did see you saw how busy you were. I saw Dan and his birds as well, but he was also in the middle of conversation every time I approached. It was a wild day!
And I was just joking about the talking to chickens. Of course I talk to my chickens. They're very good listeners. I had gone to the dark side long ago.

Whew, you all had me worried there for a minute. I couldn't imagine not talking to the girls, and then you dropped that bombshell about being crazy. I was getting a little concerned!

I had picked up a silver Ameraucana for my gf from Pips n Peeps on Saturday. In hindsight I should have gotten her 2 full grown birds because the Ameraucana is in a pen all by herself poor girl. Jean had told me to collect any eggs this week because they should be fertile, so of course I've been checking with my gf every day and don't ya know, that bird hasn't laid a single egg since the one she laid in the box on the way home. And she stepped on that one and broke it beyond repair.

I was going to toss all of those eggs in the incubator at the end of the week to see what we'd get. All I've got is the one egg that Jean gave me before I left the show. If I don't get anymore from the silver this week, what would you do if you were me? Would you fire up the incubator for one silly egg? I've been turning it every day. Of course, if it hatched I'd end up with a singleton and next thing you know I'd have a house chicken. I sure wish she'd lay at least one or two more eggs before Saturday.

I just knew there was a chance I'd end up being a crazy bird lady.

Dana, I'd keep collecting them for another week. She's probably holding out on you due to her move. But she should start up again soon. Hen's can stay fertile for up to 3 wks after being with the rooster.

My poor husband stand back now when he say and honey its all with outside...

I have some eggs being shipped to me and we dont need this white stuff. Hate it!! I hope the poor 8 little to be chicks do ok and dont get cold.. Hope the eggs are nice and dark too

Better go and get ready for work..

Haven't said hi for a while. A lot is happening here.

We picked up 13 two day old Cream Legbar chicks at the airport last Wednesday. Our first batch of Swedish Flower Hens and Swedish Flower Hen x Ameraucana hatched last Friday. (Too many SFH cockerels. Two are in pens with Ameraucanas. I put some of the blue eggs in the incubator with the others.) So many cute babies! The second batch of SFH and SFH x Ameraucana are due for lockdown on Saturday. The third batch in the incubator has more of the above plus some Isbar eggs. DH has been busy building more pens for me under a 12 by 30 rv awning.

Some of the Legbar chicks: The two with the big white dots on their heads are the males.



Swedish Flower Hen chicks: The purple marker is for ID. They really are all the same size.



Some Swedish Flower Hen x Ameraucana chicks: Looks like maybe I got beards and muffs AND crests! The green color is also for ID.
