Ok peeps!! I am having one hell of a time keeping the LG on temp!! It either fluctuates to 98 and 102!!! The room temp is about 74 degrees and I put the fan in it! It is driving me crazy!! I am so worried!! I go into lock down on Sunday!! What advice do the veteran LG peeps have on getting this thing to regulate and what tips do you have for lockdown?? I just do not want to lose these eggs!!

Get off digital & go wafer therm.
Where di you put the fan, where they recommended it ?
Do you have a second thermometer in there ?
I think if you had a thermometer down where the eggs are at you would probably see the temp is OK.
Just up high the temp can fluctuate, down below where the eggs are is probably OK...stick thermometer calibrated by clinical (oral or rectal therm) and stick in down where the eggs are (not through the lid where the heat element is) and see what the temp is there.
Other than that, cooler is better than hotter temps on the chicks.

GOOD LUCK !!!

CL is that a home made bator?? Just wondering?? I am going to have to work on getting something better, my brinsea is ok, but not big enough and I'm not liking the Styrofoam bators! And obviously if I plan on doing this long term I have got to come up with a plan to incubate efficiently!!

Yes put fan where is was recommended and by the holes the only place it would go, I have a digital therm going down the vent hole at egg level and I have the (not sure what a wafer therm is) therm that came with it, ( looks like the glass kind) on top the eggs, for the most part the digital and conventional therm have been pretty close in temp. I knew cooler is better but, if it's dropping to 95 or 96 which it has on several occasions ?? Ok, well I will see if I can find another non digital to put in there too!!
Thank you!!

Julie, give the LG temp control nob is soooooooooooooooo sensitive. You have to move it such a little amount. This is my biggest pet peeve with it! Also, give it a couple of hours to get to it's set temperature, if you keep adjusting it every half hour or hour, you will never get it set to the right temp. If it gets too warm, open the lid a bit to let some heat out. But really let it get to it's final temp, before adjusting it.I'd say 3 hrs or so. Then when it's HOLDING that temp, adjust it as needed, ever so slightly. Then give it time again to get to where it's HOLDING that temp, another 3 hrs or so.....and adjust again if needed. I usually plug it in like 3 days before I want to start my eggs cause it's so freaken tempermental!!!!! Once I've got it right though, I leave it. Mine's been running non stop since Feb!!!!

Great! Thanks!! When ever I have turned it, it has been in micro turns...just barely!! I'm just not used to it, so I will try that! I have opened the lid a few times especially when I walk in and the fricken thing is at 102!! I am just crossing my fingers and toes that no one has fried!! I just put a regular glass type therm in there to make sure it's at the right temp!
Thank Tam!!

So it has a fan right and the humidity is what? I know once I set mine it stays put or pretty close until the chicks start hatching. There is a LG tricks thread maybe you sould search for it and you can see what they all do. Im sorry Im not more help, could you also wrap it lightly with a towel to help steady it. I did that once when I had it in a room with a draft.
