I am going to have to try your Mediterranean Bay Leaf. I use bay leaf from the grocery store very frequently, but I am always interested in less common or mislabeled varieties of spices.

We planted a Greek Bay Tree in our yard in CA, and every trip DH goes down, I have him break off a branch for me.
The bay leaves are a must in our family bean pot recipe !

S-he-it (that's Southernese) is a Rouen. No quacking yet but she (for ease) does make sounds like a mini car alarm when annoyed and that Daffy Duck "woo-hoo woo-hoo woo-hoo" sound when excited and happy. I haven't noticed any other possible issues with her. My husband asked the question he always asks when the dogs are sick - "Any diarrhea" I opted to NOT explain to him the texture/consistency of duck poo. Not to mention the trajectory.

My husband does the same thing. They are warped. And think about CR's story...He is dripping brain juice and he is making jokes in the ER. ..... typical guy.

It got even worse when DH texted him, I swear DH has a warped sense of humour !!!!!!!!!!!

I am trying to get him to register with BYC & he can make his own posts cuz IF I post stuff he asks me to, it makes me look warped.............
DH loves to look over my shoulder & say "Tell CR______________" and sometimes I did, but will not no more !!!

Okay I may be able to help here. I had troubles getting the new bator dialed in, so I am now interested in turkeys too. If I get the turkeys to Enumclaw, and can keep them until Chinook Pass opens, will that help? I would even consider meeting at the top of the pass, unless anyone less would be interested in going in on the deal on the Yakima side? I am also open to a road trip out to the coast to visit with CL aka Robin.

looks like I have one roo and 3 girls. One of them it looks like his wing feathers are growing in slower. Yesterday one of the chicks had it wing stuck in the feet feathers of mama I tried to untangle them and the feathers came with the chick so I brought her inside to get better look. I went to gently pull on them and managed to get the feathers off. But her wing was limp and there was a little blood so I kept her in with me to make sure it had stopped bleeding before putting her back out. She seems to be doing fine now.

Well I finally caught up !
Now here is a few pics of the chicken tracter Einstein has been building (1 of 2 we have to build, maybe)
IF the first shipment of meaties & out of the tracter & into the freezer in time for the 2nd shipment, then we won't have to have 2.





Einstein has to add a hitch for the front so we can pull the tracter with a tracter, up to the top of the hill , then daily we can easily move it down the hill, then pull it back up to the top again with the tracter.
This is my replacement for a goat !!

Oh.... I forgot to mention. I have been diagnosed as pre-diabetic....yes diabetes runs in my family and yes I have some "immediate" family who are insulin dependent. "Pre" basically (from what I understand) means either "shape up now" or pay the price. It sucks getting old. Oh, and my vitamin D was at an extreme low level so I am on 50,000 units for 12 weeks (a week) and then recheck and back to 1,000 units a day if that works. Again...stinks getting old.

Getting old is not for wimps. It takes a tough bird to overcome all the hurdles we have to deal with.

Hey, I don't blame you one bit! One of my former jobs was as a script supervisor for movies. That's the person who makes sure that the glass doesn't appear and disappear over and over in the same scene from shot to shot (as well as a multitude of other things the scripty has to do.) The joke with friends and, especially, family was that it was a perfect job for me because I was far too excited about hair-splitting and being hyper-critical of every little nuance. Trust me - you DO NOT want to watch TV or a movie with me!!

Yours die back? You should see mine! It was trained into more of a tree than a bush/shrub and is about 10-15 feet tall! I didn't believe the previous owner when she told me that it was a Turkish Laurel until I got close and saw the shape of the leaves. I just pruned it and have two paper bags full of the leaves.

Other than a few specific trees, I don't know a thing about them in the Pac. NW. I need you here! I get asked what kind of tree something is and my answer is always "A green and brown one." We have over 8 acres and only 1.5-2 of them are not densely wooded. Wooded with what? Dunno!

Except for this last year, a deceptively mild winter by the looks of things in the garden. In my area, SW of Olympia but not coastal, we get pretty frigid temperatures for the West Side. When Seattle gets to 15 some years, we will get to 0, even -1F. We haven't been that cold for a few years, but you can expect the temp to dip to 10-15 every year, but not this year. I think 18-22 was the lowest. So, even with 15" of snow, still a mild winter here.

I'm glad you understand the need for nitpickiness. You would not be the first one to make the mistake. Did you know that a tomato is not only a fruit, but a berry? And eggplant? Pumpkins are a specialized type of berry, but raspberries, strawberries and blueberries are not berries at all. Botanically speaking, of course. Yes, nitpickiness can be fun and interesting.

I love identifying plants. I find it endlessly amusing, and now I spend way too much time on trying to identify chicken breeds. But in that area, I know almost nothing.
