3 to 5 inches!!!!!! I've had mostly drizzle here in North Seattle. My sister up in Sedro Wooley has had a lot more. The city has an easement to flood part of my property. They might very well with 3-5 inches. It must be a pineapple express. It felt awfully warm when I was out walking the dog last night.

Hallerlake: This is what the Spokane Weather lady is saying for the West Side. I feel for you....we have had a little over 2 inches in the past week and I hate it. I could not even imagine that much rain, maybe I misunderstood...maybe it was 3-5 inches the next few days, but the next comment was our area having 1/2 to 1 inch today alone....I hope I (and they) are wrong. get the chickies row boats...they may need it.

Hey!! The "quacks" are coming more from the chocolates. I still have faith in the blacks!!! They are getting so pretty!!! Their green is coming in just beautifully! If it is EVER sunny here again I will get them outside and get a picture of it for you!

Interesting about the peeps ... hard to imagine they could all be males -- maybe these little guys are just 'late quackers'.

I'll be so interested in seeing pics as I've never actually had a black runner here so it's hard to imagine seeing the 'real' green thing. (The blues have no sheen at all.) I have another batch of eggs and at least one, if not two, broody ducks, so hopefully I'll have another hatch, and maybe I'll get more blacks and keep one this time. I'm hoping for a more successful hatch than the last one, but I'll be moving them into their new house in a few days and worry they might abandon the eggs, even though it will be a much nicer, safer environment for them.

Just scrolled down and saw your new digs - VERY nice. I'll have to post pics of mine when I get a few more walls up. My house may have to wait for paint until the sun comes back (WHENEVER that may be).

I have heard that the West side could get 3-5 inches of Rain today...is this what you are hearing too? We on East side of the Mtns are getting 1/2-1 inch. My peeps are hanging out under my huge willow tree picking at bugs and watching the squirrels in the tree. I told hubby we needed to get them all little rubber boots. I too am tired of all this rain. Good luck on the hatching....sounds like fun.

According to DH, he set a dry rain gauge out last night and we have had over 1" already in the last 12 hrs...so you could very well be correct !
I am hating it !

Remember your food banks. Womans Shelters, Etc.
They love to get eggs.
When you are planting your garden why not plant an extra row?
Even if it's only an extra 4 feet you do that with every vegetable you'll be amazed at what you can take there.

What You Give Away
Vince Gill

You read the business page
See how you did today
You live up on the hill
You've got a view that kills
Never wonder why

After you've counted everything you saved
Do you ever hit your knees and pray?
You know there's gonna be a judgment day
So what will you say?

[Chorus:]
No matter what you make
All that you can take
Is what you give away
What you give away

There's people on the street
Ai't got enough to eat
You just shake your head
The measure of a man is one who lends a hand
That's what my father said

After you've counted everything you saved
Do you ever hit your knees and pray?
You know there's gonna be a judgment day
So what will you say?

[Chorus]

It's what you give away

After you've counted everything you saved
Do you ever hit your knees and pray?
You know there's gonna be a judgment day
So what will you say?

No matter what you make
All that you can take
Is what you give away

You know it's not too late
It's all for Heaven's sake
What you give away
What you give away
What you give away

I'll look into that, but knowing my luck I'd end up trapping my own mutts!

How long are the Coyotes here each night?.... I guess that all depends on witch pack is running. We have three packs that run through our property. The largest pack we have counted up to 34 at one time, in my mothers field next door to me. When the large pack runs through, they will stay about 100 yards in all directions for about 30 - 45 minutes. "We live right on a main salmon run, lots of brush and trees." The smaller packs dont stick around very long, they just pass through, and are here and gone within 5 - 10 minutes. I really dont mind the coyotes so much. I think they are cool to listen to when they hunt. But I gotta protect my girls.

I'm alive and managing. Not very well mind you, but I'm dealing with it. I tend to sleep A LOT, and I can't control it either. Thats what bothers me the most is the fact that one minute I'll be ok, then the next, I'm all but colapsing. Dr. says to just rest, stay off my feet, and watch for any confusion, loss of vission, nassea, ect... But one way or another, I HAVE to go to work in the morning. Even if I make my husband drive my gimpy butt around to the barns. The horses aren't gonna care for them selves on the count that I'm a clutz and had an accident. lol

I hope you are OK, and if we were closer I would come help out, we logged yesterday and still have alot of trees/slash to deal with but look at this storm coming in !
Will spring ever get here ?
And are we the only ones in Washington that are infested with no-see-ums....they are eating me alive !
I have seen a few flying around downtown and in Elma, how are the rest of you doing with the no see ums ?

The No-See-Ums, are horrible this year. I have NEVER seen them this bad before. Makes me glad my horses aren't elergic to them.

no-see-ums? Ya, bad case this year! I have never been bitten in my farm area before....only by skeeters, but you should have seen my arm two weeks ago!!! They are bad. My cousin (an entomologist) says its most likely due to all the crazy weather... how we had seemed to have an early spring and then winter hit again... a case of them needing to produce more rapidly or something of the sort.....all I know is it sucks! literally and figuratively!

Yes we do have A LOT of coyotes here. I do know that there are dogs running with the large pack. So there has got to be coydogs as well.

The way my run will be when I am finished with it... Well I will have 18" - 2' burried 4-6" in the ground around the outside of my run. I'm hoping that with the hotwire, and the burried fencing, it will be enough a deterent to keep my girls safe.

I found out yesterday, talking to a local sheriff. That even if my neighbors werent so close. It would be elegal to shoot and kill a coyote, because my property borders tribal land, and therefor, I am stuck. He didnt touch on the subject of trapping, but I will look into it. I wish there was some way to sterilise at least some of the pack...

I made it through work today! Im beat and could really use a nap, but my husband has a job interveiw, so I have to stay awake and watch my little girl! I really hope he gets hired, cause if he's home much longer, I might just go berserk! lol

had a long and scary drive to work this morning, did I not mention that I; not supposed to drive for the next week... I made it to work safely, just to be run off the road by a really bad driver on the way home. I sure hope state patrol did their job when I called it in. I wasnt the only person run off the road by this particular driver...

My vission is clearing up, and my head isnt all swollen anymore, but man do these bruises hurt like crazy. If I keep recovering at the rate I am, I should be good to go by sunday.

Cheryl98117: You be careful driving....no black outs or anything. Now you have me worried. you should be resting, watching soap operas or Oprah or a chicken movie (LOL) or something sipping some tea or cocoa. Bonks on the head can be bad. DO NOT OVER DO IT!!! That is an order from across the Mtns. And if you don't behave I will send you ALL of the rain we are having...so that would even be more.
tongue.gif
How does that sound?

I am of course teasing....but take it easy, your chickies need you.
