LOL Poor things! This weather has really been crazy. I'm ready for some more summer-like weather already!!!

Rare Feathers Farm: Did you hear it? It looks/sounds like this latest grey cloud is headed toward the rez....I think that is where it hit...the thunder seemed to roll forever. I am up on the flats, and we are just watching the clouds move on through. Maybe the weather up in your valley is not quite as nasty....maybe?

That is one thing I remember from living over there in Tonasket was the thunder and lightening !
Big awesome storms!
And we could hear them coming forever and going over, then blowing away.
In the summer we had outrageous heat lightening that lit up the sky like every 5 seconds, no clouds, no thunder, weird.
You guys have that still ?
Ha!
What am I saying ?
Probably no heat lightening this year!
Took me 5 years to talk my DH into moving up here from Nasty Calif...and now he is beginning to think I tricked him...I told him summers were so awesome here, great fishing and camping...yeah, right. Oh well, he is here now

Well...no "heat" lightning...but we have had lightning this spring. Make sure to bring hubby up this summer....lots of great fishing and camping....just tell him this is the "wet season" and that it will dry up and be great. Bring him up to Barter Faire...he'll have fun.

I have seen some crazy storms come through. I am up high enough, hat once we watched lightning hit (a few years ago) a building to the west of us (across the valley) and it caught the building/garage on fire. We called it in to 911 and told them how to get there. I love the storms, they are beautiful, crazy and scary sometimes, but gorgeous.

LOL Are you kidding? LOL I'm up on Loup Loup--and almost all of our weather comes from the west...so we get it first & worst! LOL It's really bad now because of the fire last summer--so the soil is eroded, the trees & grasses are gone--so the flooding is hardcore! I think we've had about 6 thunderstorms in the last few weeks! So far, we've not lost power tonight--which is good...I have eggs in two 'bators and just to be safe under two broody 'scovies & one broody cochin!

Yes we do--hence the massive fire that almost destroyed our home last summer...no rain at all...no thunder...just lots of dry lightning.

Information on Slate mutations ---> Here
My pair is slate/slate which can result in black, slate or self-blue poults.

A group shot of most of the fuzzy butts - you can clearly see the 3 different colors of turkey poults, whether they will feather out differently, I don't know.. Black will for sure, but the gray/yellow ones.. don't know.

ETA: Set another dozen turkey in the 'bator tonight. Probably do a round of Coturnix again next, and then call it quits for the year. Right..?

I hope you don't loose power, but I think the thunderstorm has passed over us. I never thought about the fire and the possible errosion you are probably having, because of the fire. I hope you are okay and not having all the flooding, I know that the creek is really coming down through the canyon. Good luck on the 'bators...do you have generator or how do you do if the power goes out? I hope the weather has calmed down up there. I know "roughly" exactly where you are. We camped at the Loup Loup ski hill over the weekend, during the archery shoot, we actually missed a lot of the rain... it turned out to be nice.

Good luck. let us know how it goes.

Yes, we have lots of dry lightning...none so far this year....How close was the fire to you last year - Rare Feathers? It was so scary. We were so concerned, during the fire last year, for all the people in Pleasant Valley. Going up the Loup, seeing all the damage, even now, is so scary. This fire was horrible.
