I hope you don't loose power, but I think the thunderstorm has passed over us. I never thought about the fire and the possible errosion you are probably having, because of the fire. I hope you are okay and not having all the flooding, I know that the creek is really coming down through the canyon. Good luck on the 'bators...do you have generator or how do you do if the power goes out? I hope the weather has calmed down up there. I know "roughly" exactly where you are. We camped at the Loup Loup ski hill over the weekend, during the archery shoot, we actually missed a lot of the rain... it turned out to be nice.
Good luck. let us know how it goes.
I just am lucky enough to have a few select cochins who will hatch a rock if I let them! LOL So I can mark eggs & slip them into the broody boxes, grab a hen & she'll usually just sit! LOL It's just dark & pretty calm out right now....do you know where Leader Lake is? We're right across from that...you drive by my house on the way to the ski hill...

Yes we do--hence the massive fire that almost destroyed our home last summer...no rain at all...no thunder...just lots of dry lightning.
Yes, we have lots of dry lightning...none so far this year....How close was the fire to you last year - Rare Feathers? It was so scary. We were so concerned, during the fire last year, for all the people in Pleasant Valley. Going up the Loup, seeing all the damage, even now, is so scary. This fire was horrible.

Yeah--it's been wild here...Luckily for us most of the fire fuel is gone now and will be for another 50 years around us.
We're going to mow the neighbor's weeds, too...sagebrush burns SUPER hot & SUPER fast--so we're pulling & killing that like crazy!
well........today was a little better of a day!! I just wanted to say that I heard my RIR squaking outside so I went check it out and what do I see
My Wheaten Maran (Kevin) Sitting on top of the 6 foot fence and the RIR was telling her "you get down right now!!!" It was so cute!! and when Kevin saw me coming out she squaked back at the RIR, like hahaha mommies here and you can't yell anymore, then immediatly flew down and jumped in my lap!! I love my chickens!!

You must be right by the old school house that burned? It was a shame to lose the school house, but I am glad that they saved your home. It was a scary summer last year. Let's hope for a better one this year.
I just went and read your post regarding the local weather. I added a comment to it. Here is what it said:
"Hi Rare Feather, I know exactly where you are. I am so sorry about the loss of the old log school house last summer. The flooding up there is crazy. I happen to be up Salmon Creek today...the creek is really roaring. I went up to Conconully to see the lake....the lower lake is FULL. Can you believe it? Well, yes you can cuz our weather has been so crazy. I have not see the lake that full in years. I hope that all your baby ducks fared well. "
Gorgeous photos. You are right...If you don't like the weather in Okanogan County...wait 5 minutes. So true. The views you have are incredible. I am up on the flats out of Omak, Duck Lake area. Don't have any ducks though.
