Cheryl: I don't know if your tribal laws are similar to ours here...but they are pretty strict and totally different from our non-tribal land. You may be stuck on the disposing of the 'yotes. Non-tribe land....shoot. But on Tribal land, you may not shoot any "large game" unless you are tribal. You may try contacting the tribe and tell them there is a nusance pack of ferral dogs - possibly cross bred coyotes...maybe they would do something. You may just have to do your best at fencing them out. Sounds like you are doing everything you can. Best of luck to you. Let us know how it goes.

It sounds to me, though, that this more than just a coyote pack...sounds more like a ferral dog pack....tribe may do something about that.

So far in the Kingston Poulsbo area, we maby got 1/2 inch so far today. It has warmed up and is finally drying up!!! AND the SUN!!! Its out for once! My three little babies that are out in the run are lounging in the sun. Its SO cute!

Anyone know how long Silkys and bantam Polish need to stay under the light. Right now they only get the light at night, and I turn it off durring the day. They seem to be very active and healthy! And boy I sure do think I have two roos! One Silky and one Polish. Guess I need to build a couple more pens huh? lol

Oh and SCORE for ME!!! My husband finally admitted that he likes the chickens!!!

He even sudgested that I put them in Chloes play yard, because it is more secure than their run! He drives me nuts, but he is wonderfull at the same time.

Once I got home, I changed outta my wet clothes, ate some food, and sat in front of the computer. My little girl was so nice to me, as soon as her dad left, she passed out. So Im getting plenty of rest, and even though its driving me up the wall to not do anything. I'm still sitting on my butt. lol I just cant afford to miss work, with my husband not working. "Someones gotta pay the bills and feed the critters!" Send good thoughts our way though, cause he's in an interveiw right as I type this!

There are ferrals mixed in with the pack, but the majority is deffinately Coyotes. You can tell the mix's because they look like a coyote, but are two to three times the size. The tribe might do something about it, but it is highly unlikely, even with me being on good terms with half the tribal elders. If the packs aren't interfearing with the fish hatchery, then they dont see a problem.

I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. We've been very vigilant, and so far we havnt had problems.

Yeah the no see ums are like mosquitos where the female has to have a blood meal in order to lay eggs.
They must have wet soil to lay eggs in, and so on and on it goes.
Everytime it bites, they lay more eggs.
One friend said he has not seen so many no see ums since he lived in Alaska.
They will increase in number until it dries up, dryness kills them.
They also crawl right through most window screens, and can carry alot of disease.
I fear the wee bug will do us in with disease,
My friend also said the bugs are 1/3 teeth, no stinger like a mosquito, these tiny critters have teeth, he said to look them up magnified on the web but I have not seen any magnified photos, maybe I do not want to.
They can transmit Equine encephalytis and other stuff like a mosquito does.

Chickiepoos are (were) still in the yard....even through the rain. All of a sudden we just had a horrendous clap of thunder. 14 chickiepoos hit the dirt...once the thunder was over, they all ran for the coop...Hubby was hot on their heels to shut the coop door.....the easiest night ever to lock them up.
