OK I am gonna stick my neck out here. I hope this doesn't come as too harsh but I really feel it needs said. I made reference to people coming to places and trying to change them to be like where they came from. Then shortly after someone says something to the effect of can this thread get back to chickens and away from daily and family life. Well I hate to break the news to ya but from the time I joined this thread and probably before there has been much of what is going on in our lives etc. It has never (that I know of) and probably never will be just chickens (poultry). See this is more of a group of friends who hang out on a wonderful chicken web site. Said group of friends also has a HUGE amount of knowledge.
Also if one takes a little time to OBSERVE some of those who have been here awhile. You will see that this is a very caring and helpful group.
OK now I DO NOT intend this next part to be or sound sarcastic simply trying to make a point and perhaps guide some of the newer peeps.

If you really want to ONLY talk chickens then you may be happier to find the thread for your preferred breed.

See I was just going to let this go and ignore it thinking it was just me but I have been contacted by some of the more senior members. They have expressed concern and displeasure with what seems to have happened to the WA thread lately.
For those who know me they know that I will speak my mind. I will stand up against what I feel is wrong. I will also be one of the first to give credit where deserved. If you have any doubts about me feel free to ask others or better yet make a point to get to know me.
With that being said I would like say welcome to the new peeps enjoy yer stay and hopefully we can resume what many of us have come to know as a fun place to interact with others.

I have always felt the "Where am I? Where are you!" threads were a place for people to just talk. My analogy is like Tim "The Toolman" Taylor and Mr. Wilson and the fence between them. We talk about almost everything, some are here for advice, some are here for companionship, were all here for friendship.

Most all of you are live in Washington or a bordering state, me I live 2 time zones away. From following my state and Washington I can tell you all that the Washingtonians community is a great community to be a part of even if chickens is not the main topic.

Does anyone have hatching eggs for purchase or trade (see my link in my siggy for trade!) in the Seattle or on the Eastside? I would love to get just four to six for my broody. She's already been cooking the ceramic eggs for four days!

Icelandic is what I've been hoping for all year - but the website that has had them available all year when I've been checking is now sold out!

And my second choice fell through - her girl is broody too!

Now I just want to relieve the poor girl and give her some real eggs

Good morning! Another beautiful day!

Does anyone have hatching eggs for purchase or trade (see my link in my siggy for trade!) in the Seattle or on the Eastside? I would love to get just four to six for my broody. She's already been cooking the ceramic eggs for four days!

Very fragrant, and can take a little shade- but it needs to be at least twenty feet from buildings or other landscape plants or it will eat them alive. This plant is about eight years old in the lower photo, and I've taken out maybe half of the basal breaks every year. It gets no fertilizer, extra water (after the first year) nor spraying: all the demands it takes are for trellising and pruning.

I want the rose, and I have a building or two it *can* eat! (I think it gets too much shade though.) But, I'm not sure this spring/summer is the best for me as we are moving and needing to reestablish the garden (we are hauling most of it with us--oh the joys of being gardeners! I think there will a garden left for the new owners, though....) You live nearby???

Thank you for the welcome...... We are looking for a place to move, so that we can do the mad chicken Math, I was raised with pigs, chickens, and a cow and goats, but seeing that i only did chores Im here to learn all I can...... I have been telling my husband for 30 years I want to raise chickens and bees, it is not a bandwagon fad for me. Hopefully my husband will come around for me.

Good for you! And I'm sure he will! When he finds out how great farm fresh eggs are and if you do any meat raising, that too! It's never too late to make your dreams come true!! Sometimes it just takes longer that's all! I wouldn't trade this life for anything in the world!! Good luck, and if you stick around there are some very knowledgeable peeps here, ( and they know a few things about bees too!)

Zgoatlady asked in PM last night, although I could try to tip-root another cane or vase-root a flower head next month.

I don't know if this rose is in commerce in the US any more; I got it at Heirloom in 2001 or 2002 but it hasn't been on their list since. All of the R. filipes are huge, with stiff, arching canes, but not many of them are pink or this fragrant.
