Beautiful looking coop and run !!!! I see one problem MAYBE !!! I don't think you'll find your flock on the roost ladder on the right at night! I bet they will be on the top shelf on the left! they always look for the highest place. the bottom rung on the ladder is to low in my opinion

Also -- chicken wire will keep chickens in, but will not keep most any predators out. Dogs, racoons, opossums, fox, bobcats and monkeys will all get through that wire. (What do you mean monkeys are not a threat? Have you see a very hungry monkey?)

I've finished my work on 4312's coop. Wait until she posts pictures - that thing is HUGE.

Okay, here are a few photos to give you some ideas of what VF has been up to for the past 2 days. I was able to help much more today, but he was the one running around like crazy and again put in a very long day.

Okay, VF started before I got a photo of the "empty" area...but this is with boards just starting to be laid out. Can you believe that a pile of lumbar and a flat dirt spot could end up like my last photo? So, The front wall is 10' the back wall 6', this gives us the pitch so that I never have to worry about snow. We have work to do...but this is all stuff that I am capable of. VF did the hard stuff. I have a lot of "during photos" and I will be posting and making a coop page. I need to paint. DH and are will put in a window and a few "cut outs" that will let air ventilate and light for the summer, but I will plug up during the winter. VF, made me a door. Of course I also still have to build all my cages for inside. This is going to be my serama coop. I am also going to build a nice big broody box/grow out box. Some of the cages will have runs that go outside, so I have runs to build too. Other cages will be for broodies, and for birds who need to be separate, or kept clean for a show. There is plenty of rom for a grow out pen, also for storage of my carrying crates, etc. I am still just a planning and a planning. The hard part is done. I am so excited. Also, VF took his time to show me so much and I am not so intimidated to try and build something. It will not be anything of this scale...but still around 4x3 or something. More of an individual coop for 3 or 4 birds. I know feel confident enough to do it.

How cool is that?? YAY!!! He did a great job! I can not wait to see it when you get it all fixed up the way you want! FUN!

Cocci: Um....do some "searching" on BYC and it will help a lot. I will see what I have to send you. It has always happened to me when I start trying to put my birds outside from a brooder...I like to have my babies raised by a broody hen as much as possible as they are exposed these germs/bugs right away and build up immunity - they almost seem healthier. But anyway, the symptoms I notice is usually, the bird is lethargic and puffed up like it is cold. It tries to hang out with the group and stay up with them, but you can tell he/she does not feel well, usually not eating. Someone had posted a "link" that showed different poop consistencies and what they looked like. I know that this sounds gross....but you can tell a lot about the health of your animal bu what its poop looks like. It helped me feel better about what I was seeing. Blood in the poop is not good and can be a sign of cocci. I have quite a few "favorites" of information regarding Cocci if you would like.

Wow, that is one HUGE coop for lots of little chickens! I Love it! How many square feet? That copp sure will be able to house a lot of chickens! How many serama eggs does it take to make a quiche?
