Thanks!
I don't have a pair of muscovy, I have two males. Sorry, I would not want more russian orloffs. I'm having too much trouble with the two I have. They fly out of my enclosure, along with my smallest RIR, and free-range whether I'm letting them free-range that day or not. This would be okay except I rescue dogs and some of them are not chicken friendly......that is what the fence is FOR. However the orloffs have a mind of their own. I did have three of them but one already fell victim to a dog. The little RIR is my favorite and she usually stays inside the pen until she gets jealous of what the orloffs are eating.
I re-seeded the free range area and I'm letting it grow and keeping them in the pen, but yesterday I had to chase the orloffs back in twice. Arrrrgggggh!
I thought I was going to have some muscovy pairs for sale, but I ordered 15 and two died and only three of the remaining are females. I read that you can't just have one female for a muscovy drake...they are too .....uh....active for just one pullet, they need two or three. But males are supposed to be okay together if there is no female. Go figger. If anyone on this thread is more informed, please let me know....I'm on BYC to learn as well as be entertained.
I've found this forum to be both!
